During his welcoming address, Prof. BEN Shenglin, Dean of ZIBS, emphasized the school's commitment towards establishing a leading technology-focused business school of global significance originating from China. To accomplish this objective, he said, ZIBS is utilizing a multi-disciplinary and multi-level partnership approach with universities around the globe, aligned with the ZIBS "5I" philosophy that prioritizes being international, interdisciplinary, innovative, inclusive, and integrative.
Prof. BEN Shenglin reiterated the significance of global cooperation in tackling the pressing human challenges. He stressed that innovation has the power to alleviate poverty, but it must be carried out with empathy and compassion. "This is an opportune moment to reflect on the concept of 'compassionate and harmonious innovation systems' by establishing global partnerships."
Nobel Laureate Prof. Muhamad Yunus gave a keynote speech on 'Rethinking Capitalism in a Post-Pandemic World'. Professor Yunus discussed how the prevailing economic system is leading the world towards a destructive path, primarily through global warming, extreme wealth concentration, and unemployment. He also highlighted the controversial impact of Artificial Intelligence in our lives.
Furthermore, he expressed how a novel economic system centred around the principles of sharing and caring could lead to the establishment of a new civilization, characterized by achieving three significant goals: zero net carbon emission, zero wealth concentration, and zero unemployment.
During the Q&A session, ZIBS professors and students demonstrated their profound contemplation on the profit-oriented system and exhibited great eagerness towards advancing sustainable business and inclusive innovation models.
