Dean BEN Shenglin Attend the Transform Africa Summit 2023
From April 26 to 28, Prof. BEN Shenglin, Dean of ZIBS, was invited to attend the 6th Transform Africa Summit (TAS) held in Zimbabwe, Africa, and agreed for future cooperation with the Smart Africa Digital Academy (SADA). During the visit, ZIBS had in-depth exchanges with Smart Africa, actively developing cooperation opportunities and promoting exchanges and cooperation between China and Africa in various fields such as academic communication.
The Transform Africa Summit is Africa’s leading annual forum. Following five successful editions, the sixth Summit was held from April 26 to 28, 2023, where President Kagame of Rwanda, Emmerson Mnangagwa, the President of the host state, President Lazarus Chakwera of Malawi, President Hakainde Hichilema of Zambia, King Mswati III of Eswatini, and other representatives of the Alliance’s 36 member nations and government officials, entrepreneurs, investors, and innovators from around the world gathered in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe to attend a grand event - the 2023 Transform Africa Summit, an important milestone of digital transformation and innovation in Africa. Running under the theme “Connect, Innovate and Transform”.
Prof. BEN Shenglin, Dean of ZIBS, was in attendance together with the Director of the ZIBS China-Africa Center, Mr. Benjamin Dogani. To which they participated in numerous related activities from April 26th to 27th: leaders' group meeting, cross-border e-commerce in Africa, dialogue on digital skills bridges between China and Africa, speech on future technology-driven new industries, and an agreement-signing for future collaboration between Zhejiang University and Smart Africa.
ZIBS and Smart Africa agreed on a future collaboration that aims to strengthen the implementation of Smart Africa's digital projects in Africa. Zhejiang University will provide assistance to the Smart Africa Digital Academy (SADA) for knowledge generation and dissemination.
On April 27th, BEN Shenglin attended a seminar on Future Work - Technology Driven New Industries and gave a speech.
The visit has laid the foundation for ZIBS to carry out multi-field cooperation with relevant institutions in Smart Africa. ZIBS China-Africa Center will strive to become a bridge for cooperation in multiple fields between China and Africa and contribute to the education, economic, and cultural exchanges between the two countries.
