1/34 When one is in love, one always begins by deceiving one's self, and one always ends by deceiving others. That is what the world calls aromance.

2/34 The only difference between a caprice and a life-long passion is that the caprice lasts a little longer.

3/34 When a love comes to an end, weaklings cry, efficient ones instantly find another love and wise already had one in reserve.

4/34  Life is one fool thing after another whereas love is two fool things after each other.

5/34  Between men and women there is no friendship possible. There is passion, enmity, worship, love, but no friendship.

6/34 There are only two tragedies in life: one is not getting what one wants, and the other is getting it.

7/34 It is better to be beautiful than to be good, but it is better to be good than to be ugly

8/34  What is the chief cause of divorce? Marriage.

9/34  Men marry because they are tired; women because they are curious; both are disappointed.

10/34 The happiness of a married man depends on the people he has not married.

11/34  Wicked women bother one. Good women bore one. That is the only difference between them.

12/34  Marriage is the triumph of imagination over intelligence. Second marriage is the triumph of hope over experience.

13/34  Women represent the triumph of matter over mind, just as men represent the triumph of mind over morals.

14/34 There is only one real tragedy in a woman's life. The fact that her past is always her lover, and her future invariably her husband.

15/34  Experience is the name every one gives to their mistakes.

16/34  It is absurd to divide people into good and bad. People are either charming or tedious.

17/34  Wickedness is a myth invented by good people to account for the curious attractiveness of others

18/34  The only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about.

19/34  I don't want to earn my living; I want to live.

20/34  The very essence of romance is uncertainty.

21/34  Women are meant to be loved, not to be understood.

22/34  If I may not write beautiful books, I may at least read beautiful books , and what joy can be greater?

23/34  Don't be afraid of the past. If people tell you that it is irrevocable, don't believe them.

24/34   A dreamer is one who can only find his way by moonlight, and his punishment is that he sees the dawn before the rest of the world.

25/34   What seems to us as bitter trials are often blessings in disguise.

26/34   What is a cynic? A man who knows the price of everything and the value of nothing.

27/34   Every saint has a past and every sinner has a future.

28/34   To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people exist, that is all.

29/34   No man is rich enough to buy back his own past.

30/34   No great artist ever sees things as they really are. If he did he would cease to be an artist.

31/34   All charming people, I fancy, are spoiled. It is the secret of their attraction

32/34   Life imitates art far more than art imitates life.

33/34   I love acting. It is so much more real than life.

34/34   A man who does not think for himself does not think at all.
