Why do you think that people today find it difficult to save money and how would you suggest them overcome this problem?

Generally speaking, it’s kind of difficult for people to save money these days since there are simply too many temptations, I mean, the hi-tech products are fascinating and people cannot resist the desire to own them as soon as they come to the market. Besides, those electronic devices would have fancy new features, which attract people to buy the latest version even though theirs still work. Moreover, as people have to endure increasing amount of pressure from school or work, they’ve developed various interests, such as traveling abroad or shopping, in order to get refreshed. Yet such recreational activities may end up costing us a fortune. I think we need to learn to make a budget so as to save money, and any expense beyond that should be strictly banned. Besides, making investment may also be a good idea. We could buy some treasury bonds or funds, which expose us to relatively low risks and at the same time, provide additional profits.

Some parents would arrange home-schooling for their children. What do you think about this practice?

I don’t think it’s a good idea to arrange home-schooling for children since for one thing, children may not cooperate in this situation. It is true that parents care about their kids and know them well; however, some children are not willing to communicate with their parents because of generation gap, sometimes kids may even deliberately go against their will, making it almost impossible for home-schooling to take effect. Besides, I do believe that the interactions among students and teachers are beneficial for learning. In class, students could form study groups with their peers; and through discussion, negotiation and debate, they could get a comprehensive and insightful idea about the topics; also, teacher, who has received systematic training in education, knows how to convey information to students based on their personality and learning habits, so as to let them study in the most efficient manner. Such experience cannot be replaced by home-schooling.
