From my perspective, government should invest in education as a highly developed educational system would provide human resources for other sections in our society. Frankly speaking, our current educational system still has much room for improvement. For example, the distribution of academic resources is not even, which is reflected by the lack of academic equipment and teachers in the Western part of our country. Besides, universities could always use more up-to-date facilities and adopt more student-oriented teaching techniques in order to engage them and promote their learning. In contrast, if our education is lagged behind, the development of other fields, including space exploration and health care, would all suffer from a lack of expertise.

Should parents discourage their children from choosing some majors which might be very competitive to find a job in the future, like professional athletes and singers?

Generally speaking, I think parents should be supportive and encourage their children to pursue their dreams as long as children have thought twice about their decisions. If children really think it through and are willing to pay efforts, there’s no reason for parents to stand in the way. Instead, parents may provide proper guidance and assistance so as to help their children make progress. When children meet setbacks or feel frustrated during the process, they’ll need parents’ comfort, which enables them to hang in there and crack obstacles. Moreover, young people are expected to shoot for the stars. Someone would finally become successful athlete or singers and that “someone” could be them. We’ve all heard stories about how a singer rises to fame against great odds, and such figures could be role models for children.
