What do you think is the hardest thing parents may encounter when raising a child?

From my perspective, parents may find it difficult to treat their children in a fair manner. Some parents pin their hope on kids, especially those parents with unrealized dreams. For example, they might fail to attend college due to poor economic status or unstable social environment; as a result, they tend to require that children go for prestigious universities despite the fact that children may not possess the abilities or skills for such an ambition. In this case, the relationship within the family would suffer since children usually feel stressed out under pressure and parents are constantly concerned about kids’ school performance. Besides, some parents cannot help but comparing their children with other kids, which also puts the kids in a hard position. That’s probably why teenagers are not willing to talk with their parents at home.

Some teachers give feedback to students’ assignment through face-to-face conversation; others attach written feedback to students’ assignment. Which one do you prefer and why?

I prefer written feedback attached to the assignment. For one thing, written comments tend to be more specific and comprehensive. When writing the feedback, the teacher has got enough time to comb their thoughts and edit the language so that they could tailor suggestions for each assignment. What’s more, students will find it easy to understand what the teacher is talking about and if they wanna respond to such comments, they could either e-mail their teacher or make an appointment for face-to-face communication. In contrast, a verbal feedback may not be effective since some students feel nervous when talking to teachers while teachers may feel embarrassed especially when making some critical comments. Besides, it’s convenient for students to go over all the written comments in order to review for the final exams.
