Describe something you were scared of but accomplished in the end. How did you feel after you’ve done it?

Although I’m quite independent, I’m scared of loneliness. Yet strangely, I’ve always been haunted by the desire of traveling alone. Last year, I went hiking in the Helvellyn, which is the third highest mountain in the Lake District in England. During the first 600 meters or so, I met several people coming back from the top, but I was totally left alone for the rest of the trip. There were punishing wind and cold rain along the way. In fact, I was afraid that I might be struck by lightning or blown off the cliff out of a sudden. However, I kept moving forward. When I finally stood on the top, the view was breath-taking. While the sky above me was gloomy and windy, the part over another peak nearby was bright and serene. I felt both inner-peace and a sense of accomplishment, as if I’d got everything in the world. The trip is rewarding and I’m pretty sure that I’m gonna seek something like that in the future.

Some people think that library is a place for reading and learning while others think it’s a place for friends meetings and face-to-face discussion. Which idea do you support?

Although many students go to the library to read or study for exams, others may go there to meet friends and do group discussion, which I think is appropriate. Some people may argue that it’s gonna make lots of noise in an otherwise quiet environment, therefore disturbing the students nearby. However, most libraries do provide certain zones for such activities. For example, there’s usually a café on the ground floor, where we chat with friends or grab a quick sandwich and a cup of coffee during breaks. Also, there’re meeting rooms on each floor where students discuss with each other without making noises in the main library area. Moreover, I don’t think it’s a good idea to keep the library perfectly quiet since this may make the place too serious or even a little bit depressing, which may drive students away.
