Which of the following projects do you think your school should develop?

答案示例

I think the school may put effort in research on cleaning river and ocean because this is more relevant to our daily life. We need to drink fresh and clean water and also, lots of animal and plant species depend on water for survival. If the water source is contaminated, everyone stands to lose. Once we come up with efficient and cost-effective way to clean river and ocean, such as more advanced technique to filter the water or prevent the source from being polluted in the first place, we would benefit in the long-term. In contrast, outer space exploration does sound fascinating, but it is not as closely related to our current living condition as the quality of water resource. Moreover, we’ve already been able to predict weather accurately and I think a little improvement in this respect wouldn’t make much difference.

Do you prefer to be friends with people who are of your age or with those older than you?

Generally speaking, I prefer to make friends with peers. It’s just more fun to communicate with them. Even though I may not necessarily have generation gap with people older than me, still, we often care about different things. For example, my older sister usually talks to me about career direction and the life I’m gonna experience in the so-called “real world”. Well, I really appreciate the fact that she is willing to share her first-hand knowledge with me. However, I’m just not that fond of such stuff. When I chat with others, I’d like to talk about the newly-released albums, the popular movie stars, things people of my own age are interested in. Besides, when I talk with people older than me, I kind of get the feeling that they often think they know better than me and tend to educate me. I just wanna be friends with those who treat me as equals and maybe offer me suggestions instead of instructions.
