Describe the advantage and disadvantage of working in a family business.

I think a family business does have certain advantages. For one thing, the working atmosphere may be quite pleasant. Although hierarchy still exists, the relationship among people in different positions may be closer than the one within a company in which people are only connected by the contract. As a result, co-workers would find it easier to communicate with each other, which often contribute to higher working efficiency. However, such a business also has its drawbacks. For example, it may be difficult for the company to carry out strict rules and regulations. Once someone bends or even violates the rules, leaders may hesitate to punish him/her since that very person could be the boss’s relative and of course, no one wants to offend his families for fearing that this will probably jeopardize the future chance for promotion.

I believe that by joining sports groups, children could achieve more socially. For one thing, group activities require cooperation. For example, when playing basketball, each member is assign to certain position. Rather than trying to grab the spotlight by showing off skills, a team-player needs to follow the team’s strategy and coordinate with others. During this process, we learn to communicate through eye contacts or gestures, create chances for others, and deal with success as well as failure. These are all crucial social skills which will come handy some point in our lives. Moreover, we learn about others by playing group sports with them. Some people are free-loaders while others are sore losers. And someone may possess great leadership and organizational skills. Through group sports, we could accumulate experience about recognizing and coping with various kinds of people within a team.
