I think freshmen could find the sophomore as a partner since they’ve gone through the first year, and can therefore provide useful guidance to the first-year students. For example, they could tell which café is highly recommended, which professor offers the best lectures, or how to use the printing machine in a cost-effective manner. Sometimes the freshmen may not ask such questions first since they couldn’t foresee them; yet a sophomore would stand in their shoes and offer help in advance. In contrast, a campus tour may be helpful but one organized tour is far from being enough yet first-year students hardly have time for several tours given their tight schedule. Besides, a Q & A center doesn't come as handy as a partner who can give one-on-one guidance to the students.

You are going to attend a job interview in a place which is far from you. Would you prefer a face-to-face interview or the one over the phone?

I’d like to have the interview in a face-to-face manner despite the long distance between the company and me. For starters, interviews conducted through phone calls may not go smoothly, I mean, what if the service is not reliable and there’s communication break-down from time to time? Even though it’s not my fault, it would still leave a poor impression on the interviewers. Moreover, I’d perform better when talking to the interviewers in person since I can express myself clearly with the help of gestures; plus, by reading their facial expressions, I could tell if they have any doubts about my statement. It’s true that I may spend much time on traffic. However, it’s worth it if the job is promising and as long as I leave enough time on the road, I won’t be late for the event.
