Tom Dixon，出生于北非突尼斯，成长于英国伦敦，是一位未经专业培训却才华横溢的设计师。他的设计作品天马行空，并被英国V&A博物馆, 纽约MoMA现代艺术博物馆和巴黎蓬皮杜国家艺术文化中心纳入馆藏。
2001年，他被授予OBE for services to British Design (大英帝国官佐勋章)，Tom Dixon同名设计品牌成立于2002年，专注于家具、灯饰和家饰。
Dixon 在 Tom Dixon Interior Worlds 一书中将自己的创作构思归纳成五大类别，分别是 Materialism, Constructivism, Reductionism, Primitivism 和 Futurism，旨在真实探索材料本身的意义和质感。
- Materialism -

“Materiality is an underlying theme in all our work, from the rawness of cast metals and precious stone to the surface possibilities of vacuum metallised plastics or the malleable quality of molten glass. Materialism gives an extra tactile dimension to the objects we mould, carve and cast, creating a synergy between container and scent in Cork, Terrazzo, Stone, Alloy and Oil.”

An unconventional scent of burnt sugar and smoky wood permeates a raw cork vessel,
stamped with the mark of its maker.
Scent Notes
Top: Leather;
Heart: Neroli and Patchouli;
Base: Gaiac Wood and Vetivert.
Ingredients
Natural Soy and Paraffin Wax.

- Materialism: Terrazzo -
Weighty, rounded and satisfying to touch, Terrazzo is a fitting new member of the Materialism family – a substantial container for this fresh Mediterranean scent.
Scent Notes
Top: Bergamot and Lemon;
Heart: Green Fig;
Base: Gaiac Wood and Vetivert.

- Materialism: Stone -
A set of heavy, generous, smooth containers made from forest green marble and turned by hand in India. Each rocky, rounded heavyweight container is unique due to the particularities of each individual block of marble. This forms the optimum vessel for the dry exotic fig and sandalwood essence. Every piece is unique due to the individual character of the marble.
Scent Notes
Top: Fig;
Heart: Bergamot;
Base: Sandalwood.

Materialism: Stone Giftset

- Materialism: Alloy -
Sharp clean and light, the Alloy scent and the metal share common core characteristics. A woody fragrance, created exclusively for Tom Dixon, blending vibrant wood notes with cool metallic facets, held in a gravity cast aluminium vessel. The container is made from a steel mould, with machined edges, sand cast and machined smooth on top and bottom. Made from 100% aluminium, they are completely raw, straight out of the mould so that sand grains and tool marks are visible on the surface. The lid is cut from an aluminium rod and Tom Dixon branding is embossed as part of the mould.

A mysterious multi-coloured vessel contains a powerful refreshing blast of woody essential oils. The light refracting from the surface creates the lustrous effect of petrol on water or a dragonfly wing. No two containers are the same.

Top: Cypress.
Heart: Guaiacwood.
Base: Styrax.

首先，能反映材料本身的意义是通过其重量感和触感，比如说金属容器和软木容器是是什么样的温度，大理石容器是什么样的重量。其次，Tom Dixon 提到过这些容器并不是用完便可以丢弃的固体蜡烛的载体，而是 'last a lifetime' 的容器，可能会被拥有他们的人用做其他用途。这便让人们有机会去真实感受并懂得珍惜这些材料的纯粹和美，熟悉材料的习性，以及他们如何自然消亡或者屹立于时光之中，更重要的是，他们如何陪伴你走过一些时间。
