Cao Cao Mobility partners with LiDAR maker Innovusion

Beijing (Gasgoo)- On March 29, 2023, Innovusion, a global image-grade LiDAR solution provider, and Cao Cao Mobility, a ride-hailing platform backed by Geely, announced that they have officially entered into a strategic cooperation.

Based on their respective strengths, the two parties will work together to boost the iteration of autonomous driving technology, enhance the safe and comfortable driving experience for both drivers and passengers of high-level intelligent driving, and accelerate the large-scale commercial implementation of said intelligent driving technologies in multiple cities across China.

In order to reinforce its competitiveness in the intelligent driving field, Cao Cao Mobility launched the N cubic strategy, that breaks down to such business development approaches as of New Car (custom cars), New Power (new energy), and New Ecosystem (new ecology), hoping to promote application of scenario-specific customized ride-sharing vehicles. 

To achieve a safe and smooth ride, the smart vehicles should have robust perception capabilities. When facing direct sunlight or complex weather during rush commuting hours, the vehicles should have sufficient anti-interference sensing capability to ensure accurate recognition and detection. Under high-speed scenarios that occur from time to time in daily operation, the vehicles should boast a long enough sensing distance to support the system for safe decision execution.

Innovusion’s LiDAR adopts 1550nm laser source, which is resistant to sunlight interference and can clearly and stably identify all kinds of targets under direct sunlight. The standard detection distance under 10% reflectivity reaches 250 meters, and the longest detection distance reaches up to 500 meters, which are still stable even under bad weather such as rain, snow, and fog. In high-speed scenarios, Innovusion’s solution can detect obstacles with low reflectivity, such as black tires, from a long distance. 

Innovusion's high performance LiDAR products realized mass production in 2022, with over 70,000 units delivered annually. The company holds a total production capacity of over 250,000 units of said LiDAR per year.
