Leapmotor to use Qualcomm’s new-gen Snapdragon cockpit platform

Beijing (Gasgoo)- On March 31, Chinese new energy vehicle startup Leapmotor signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Qualcomm to further deepen their cooperation in the automotive field.

The strategic collaboration will allow Leapmotor to be the first automaker to adopt Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon cockpit platform (SA8295P) to develop a new generation of intelligent cockpit products for the company’s future car models. Leapmotor will launch the first car model with the latest Snapdragon cockpit platform by the end of this year. 

As part of the cooperation, the two companies will also explore broader opportunities in the areas of cockpit, automotive connectivity, and intelligent driving by using Qualcomm’s Snapdragon digital chassis solution in future Leapmotor-branded car models.

The newest generation Snapdragon cockpit platform that Leapmotor is set to adopt is Qualcomm’s premier digital cockpit solution and the first-ever automotive-grade solution built on the 5nm process. The platform boasts the sixth-generation Qualcomm® Kryo™ CPU that supports high-performance computing, the leading Adreno™ GPU in graphics rendering, and the top-of-the-line Qualcomm® AI engine. With its advanced manufacturing process, powerful AI computing capabilities, and graphic and multimedia processing ability, the platform will provide the foundation for the top-class experience of Leapmotor's new generation cockpit platform, including intelligent speech processing, high-load, multi-tasking, complex multimedia, scenario perception, and safety enhancement features.
