GAC AION notches all-time high monthly sales in May 2023

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- GAC AION, the new energy vehicle (NEV) arm of GAC Group, said its monthly vehicle sales hit a record high of 45,003 units in the fifth month of 2023, soaring 114% from the previous year, while also rising 10% from the previous month.

Notably, May 2023 marks the third straight month for GAC AION to record a monthly sales volume of over 40,000 units.

For the first five months of 2023, GAC AION’s vehicle sales totaled 166,323 units, zooming up 119% from a year earlier.

GAC AION last month announced a partnership deepened with DiDi Autonomous Driving, the self-driving technology arm of DiDi Global, to establish a joint venture aimed at mass producing electric Robotaxis.

The joint project, named "AIDI," marks a significant milestone in the mass production and commercial operation of Level 4 autonomous driving electric vehicles, said both companies.

By 2025, the first mass-produced model under the project is expected to be integrated into DiDi's shared mobility network and incorporated into a large-scale mixed dispatching system.

Furthermore, this move marks the first update on the cooperation between DiDi Autonomous Driving and GAC AION since they formed a strategic partnership in 2021.
