Gu Chunshan, Assistant to General Manager of Chery Automobile Co., Ltd. and Executive Director of Chery's powertrain technology center, provided a comprehensive interpretation of the third-generation hybrid technology. He stated that the Kunpeng Super Performance Electric Hybrid C-DM integrates Chery's leading capabilities in multiple technical fields and achieves comprehensive innovation breakthroughs in the existing "technology fortress." With performance advantages such as "thermal efficiency >44.5%, comprehensive range of 1400+ km, fuel consumption of 4.2L per 100 km, and 0-100km/h acceleration of 4.26 seconds," it subverts users' perception and expectations of electric hybrid products, ushering in a new era of electrified hybrids.
The Kunpeng Super Performance Electric Hybrid C-DM consists of a dedicated hybrid engine, transmission, and battery management system. The fifth-generation ACTECO 1.5TGDI efficient hybrid engine and the three-gear super hybrid DHT and stepless super hybrid DHT, which came off the line this time, are important components of the "three major hybrid parts." As a representative of domestic super hybrid technology, Chery's third-generation hybrid technology introduces two major gold combination packages, aiming to create outstanding electric hybrid products that are "high-performance throughout and consistently energy-efficient," providing users with extraordinary travel experiences, said the company.

As the power "core" of the Kunpeng Super Performance Electric Hybrid C-DM, the fifth-generation ACTECO 1.5TGDI efficient hybrid engine has a maximum power of 115 kW and a peak torque of 220 N·m. With the "dual-motor drive + 3-gear DHT" mode, the three-gear super hybrid DHT achieves a transmission efficiency of over 97.6%, a wheel-end output torque of over 4000 N·m, and an average electric drive rate of over 90%.

Moreover, this combination also delivers powerful power output across the entire speed range, with an acceleration of just 4.26 seconds per 100 kilometers and a top speed of 240 km/h, providing users with the ultimate performance hybrid driving experience in various driving scenarios such as starting, accelerating, and cruising, according to Chery’s press release. Facing urban congestion, it only takes 3 seconds to accelerate from 30 km/h to 70 km/h, keeping up with traffic and making overtaking easier. On highways, accelerating from 90 km/h to 120 km/h only takes 3.6 seconds.
Chery said the other golden combination focuses on providing users with a smooth and efficient, ultra-low energy consumption experience. This combination consists of the fifth-generation ACTECO 1.5TGDI efficient hybrid engine and the newly developed continuously variable super hybrid DHT, representing another breakthrough in traditional hybrid technology and initiating an experience of "electric-first, fuel-assisted" travel.

The continuously variable super hybrid DHT features E-CVT seamless shifting, achieving smooth and quiet operation comparable to pure electric vehicles. The maximum speed of the drive motor/generator reaches 16,000 rpm, with a motor efficiency of up to 98% (industry average is 97%). With a combined range of 1400+ km, it offers users an option for ultra-low energy consumption.

Furthermore, the fifth-generation ACTECO 1.5TGDI efficient hybrid engine incorporates six core technologies, enabling it to achieve a maximum thermal efficiency exceeding 44.5% and a fuel consumption as low as 4.2L per 100 km. In addition, the Kunpeng Super Performance Electric Hybrid C-DM supports super flash charging, reaching up to 80% charge in just 18 minutes.
With the support of the Kunpeng Super Performance Electric Hybrid C-DM, Chery Holding Group's three major brands - Chery, EXEED, and JETOUR- will fully embrace hybridization. By 2024, Chery Group plans to launch more than 20 C-DM models, ushering in a new era of acceleration in the era of new energy vehicles for Chery.
The Arrizo 8C-DM, as the first Chery-branded model to carry the Kunpeng Super Performance Electric Hybrid C-DM, is expected to hit the market in the fourth quarter of 2023. It is projected that Chery brand will introduce more than 10 C-DM models by 2025, achieving comprehensive electrification across its product lineup.
As for the EXEED Yaoguang C-DM, which made its debut at the Auto Shanghai 2023, it is expected to be launched in the fourth quarter of this year, with the third-generation hybrid technology officially going into volume production. By 2025, EXEED will introduce four hybrid electric models.
Regarding JETOUR, new models such as the JETOUR Traveller, as well as existing products, will all introduce hybrid variants, aiming to achieve comprehensive hybrid electrification by 2024. Among them, the JETOUR Traveller’s hybrid model will be equipped with the Chery Kunpeng Super Performance Electric Hybrid C-DM technology. It is expected that by 2024, JETOUR will have six models equipped with this technology, accelerating the expansion of its hybrid product matrix.
