DCI Art and Science Photography Competition |
Two Year 12 students have been recognised for their photography skills this week, coming 2nd place in their categories in the Dulwich College International Art and Science Photography Competition 2019.
Sally placed second in the Cultural Heritage category with her dynamic shot of Hangzhou. She titled the work ‘Let Us Eat’, saying:
"I took this in Hangzhou during the October National holidays. The streets were crowded with people especially these restaurants during the evening as people find a place to gather with family and have a nice meal. I shot this with a slow shutter speed and a tripod to capture movement and some of the overflowing energy of the scene."
Elizabeth placed second in the Active animals category, entering an unusual composition of a child in a lion mask and a feeding wasp. Liz chanced upon the apple and wasp while setting up for another photoshoot featuring masks. It was an unplanned and spontaneous shot and is a great example of what Henri Cartier Bresson would call ‘the decisive moment’.
Congratulations to both Sally and Liz!
