Once I went out with a Chinese girl I met online. She looked really pretty in her picture and she was really sweet and nice, but she refused to show me more pictures of her face and I didn't find any on her WeChat moments.

I was a little worried, but we went on a date at a restaurant. My date looked older than in her pictures, but it was okay. 

We were talking and drank a little, and I was having a good time when suddenly... 

An ayi came in with a kid, and my date said hi and hugged the kid.

This kid was really cute, and I could tell he was a mixed race kid. He looked very Asian but was also blonde. It turned out to be her son, and she had had him with a foreign guy. Unfortunately he left her, so she was a single mom. 

Anyways, from there the evening was really awkward - she had not mentioned a son before. I was not ready to be a step dad. 

I tried to keep it cool, but at the end I gave an excuse so we left the restaurant. I said thank you and later on I explained to her that I was not looking to engage in a relationship involving a kid. She kindly deleted me on Wechat.
