Prophet's Jay Milliken Spoke on Chinese Brands Going Global
Prophet Senior Partner and Asia Regional Lead Jay Milliken was invited as a keynote speaker at the 5th China Brand Economy (Shanghai) Forum 2019.
With the presentation themed “Chinese Brands Going Global”, Jay shared his insights and perspective on the positioning and outlook of Chinese brands in the global market. Through industry exemplars such as TikTok, DJI and TCL, Jay discussed what it takes for a Chinese brand to succeed in the diverse global market.
“It was a great honor to present the keynote speech at China Brand Economy (Shanghai) Forum. Over the years, we have seen many western brands struggle and fail in China when they overlook the importance of understanding the local consumers, and the same goes for Chinese brands overseas,” said Jay Milliken, “Only through deep understanding of the local consumers, clear and strong value proposition and localized marketing strategies can Chinese brands capture the emerging market opportunities and find success on a global stage.”
Initiated by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People’s Republic of China (MIIT) and Shanghai Municipal Government, China Brand Economy (Shanghai) Forum is one of the most prestigious brand conferences in China. Hosted on May 10th, 2019, the 5th edition with the theme “Global Positioning of Chinese Brands” dove deep into the question of how Chinese brands can continue to grow and succeed in the global market. Attendees of the forum included renowned multinational and domestic companies such as Tesla, Bright Food, Jahwa, Bank of Communication, as well as top-tier educational institutions such as Fudan University and Columbia University.
