报告摘要
Introducing magnetism into topological insulators (TIs) opens a non-trivial exchange band gap, which provides an exciting platform for versatile time-reversal symmetry-breaking physics. The surface spins of an antiferromagnetic thin film can magnetize the surface states in TIs through proximity couplings. Using this manner, emergent interfacial magnetic effects can be tailored through artificial structural engineering, and the magnetic properties such as the surface magnetization and the Curie temperature of the TI can be enhanced. More interestingly, due to the vanishingly small stray field in antiferromagnets (AFMs), the magnetization reversals of the top and bottom TI surfaces can be individually controlled, giving rise to intermediate spin configurations and topological transitions. The topological order is thus allowed to be manipulated using AFMs. Constructing TI-heterostructures using AFMs with different anisotropies can further modulate the spin-texture topological transition according to the polarization of anchoring spins in the antiferromagnetic layer. This suggests that the topological charges with Chern numbers of +1 or -1 can thus be exchange-biased. Interfacing the TI with AFMs unveils new avenues towards topological antiferromagnetic spintronics.
个人简介
Q.L. He received his BS from Sun Yat-sen University in 2011 and PhD from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2015. He moved to University of California, Los Angeles, as a postdoc researcher for three years. In 2018, he joined ICQM, Peking University as an Assistant Professor. His main research interests lie in the studies of molecular beam epitaxial growth and characterization of topological (crystalline) insulators, magnetic materials, and superconductor. He also devotes to the optoelectronic and magnetoelectric studies of metallic and semiconductor thin films and nanostructures, including quantum dots, nanowires and nanoribbons, as well as structural and chemical analysis of hetero-interfaces.
