Recent years have seen the rise of a new class of materials possessing exotic quantum orders stemming from the topological nature of electronic band structures, which typically manifest themselves in collective charge or spin arrangements leading to fascinating properties. The typical example is two-dimensional topological insulator (2D TI), however they are suffering from small band gapand room-temperature stability. Here we introduce the feasible strategy by building the sandwich structures to convert graphene or silicene into strong TIs which can be potentially used in the room temperature. Meanwhile we introduce a class of 2D materials that possess coexisting ferroelectric, ferromagnetic, ferroelastic and topological insulating orders. First of the examples is a prototype 2D ferroelectric TI in an atomic thin bismuth layers functionalized by CH₂OH, which exhibits a large ferroelectric polarization that is switchable by a ligand molecule rotation mechanism and a strong SOC that drives a band inversion leading to the topological insulating state. We also have shown the coexistence of ferroelectricity, ferromagnetism, ferroelasticity and topological insulating orders in CH₂OCH₃ functionalized Ge/As monolayer or transition metal dichalcogenides.
个人简介
Dr. Liangzhi Kou received his Ph.D. in 2011 from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. He was an Alexander von Humboldt Fellow at the Bremen Center of Computational Materials Sciences (BCCMS) in Germany during 2012–2014, a Research Associate at UNSW Australia in 2014, and ARC-DECRA fellow during 2015–2018. He has been a Lecturer at Queensland University of Technology since 2015 and was promoted to senior lecturer in 2017. His research mainly focuses on computational discovery and design of novel 2D materials for energy applications and 2D topological insulators.

第二十二届全国半导体物理学术会议是浙江大学物理学系和浙江大学硅材料国家重点实验室承办,由中国物理学会半导体物理专业委员会主办的全国性会议。会议宗旨是促进国内半导体物理研究领域的学术交流,把握国际重大前沿领域的发展动向,提升国内半导体物理及相关学科的国际影响力。本届会议于2019年7月9~12日在杭州第一世界大酒店召开。朱邦芬院士、黄如院士、杜瑞瑞教授、段镶锋教授、熊启华教授、彭笑刚教授、陆卫教授、陆朝阳教授等知名学者莅临本届会议并作大会特邀报告。
