Phase Transitions in an Expanding Universe: Stochastic Gravitational Waves in Standard and Non-Standard Histories

Primordial gravitational waves from a cosmological first order phase transition has become a new window to probe physics beyond the standard model and can complement direct searches at the energy and intensity frontiers. I will briefly review recent developments of the theoretical modelling and numerical simulations of the gravitational wave production during a cosmological first order phase transition. I will then discuss in detail the dynamics of the phase transition and the modelling of the dominant acoustic production of gravitational waves in an expanding universe, based on our work.

The bright sirens from future gravitational-wave detector networks

I will introduce my recent work which forecasts the potential of bright sirens from future GW detector networks, i.e., the second-generation ground-based advanced LIGO+advanced Virgo+KAGRA+LIGO-India (HLVKI), the third-generation ground-based Einstein Telescope+two Cosmic Explorer (ET+2CE), and the space-based LISA+Taiji, on cosmology and modified gravity theory. The construction of joint Hubble diagram from these networks will be briefly introduced and then the results based.
