THE ROLE


Position: CHINA MARKETING OFFICER (FULL TIME)

Department: UEA GLOBAL

Location: UK

Salary: £27,929 to £34,308 per annum on Grade 6 on the single salary spine. The normal expectation is that starting salary will be at the minimum of the advertised salary scale.


01-JOB DESCRIPTION

The China Marketing Officer will work in our UEA Global team to be responsible for management of all of UEA’s China-focused social channels, website, and digital marketing presence.


Working with the Regional Manager and the wider China team you will oversee the delivery of high-impact social content and campaigns that tells our compelling stories, informs our audiences, and serves to grow the reputation of UEA in China.


You will work with colleagues across ARM and UEA including the Content Team, Contacts Team, Marketing, News, and Comms to ensure effective content engages and excites our audiences.


You will build publishing plans and calendars to deliver a wide array of content across multiple platforms, approving and scripting social copy and owning tone of voice for the accounts and assets, ensuring all content is optimised fully to reach the right audiences, and liaising with internal and external stakeholders to report on performance.


02-KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Working with the Regional Manager and the wider China team to inform and execute UEA’s Chinese content & social media strategy, particularly in relation to student recruitment.

• To encourage best practices and innovation by benchmarking and understanding current trends in China and new developments in Chinese social media communications.

• You will be responsible for publishing and scheduling Chinese content across social media channels. This will include channel management across multiple platforms, including WeChat, Weibo, and Bilibili, and include the coordination of paid-for social content.

• Managing text and video Chinese content that is of interest to our target audiences including content planning and creation, including copywriting, creating content briefs, editing and proofreading, and ensuring content meet SEO best practices.

• Be aware of the Chinese groups and communities within UEA and harness their passion for our social channels and stories.

• Managing content and navigation on the China website and China-specific pages on the main UEA site.

• Source, commission, and brief Chinese creative work to agencies, freelancers, and partners.

• Help build China social media understanding across the team, ARM, and wider university.


03-ACCOUNTABILITIES AND BEHAVIOURS

• Be the champion of Chinese social media across UEA, understanding the appropriate use of channels and the value of our audiences on them.

• In coordination with the Content Team, develop and manage our China social media policies that allow colleagues across UEA to use our channels.

• Manage UEA’s voice across Chinese social channels, campaigns, and audiences.

• Work with others to ensure value for money and contribute to managing relevant marketing budgets.

• Monitor our social performance in China using analytics and monitoring tools, report back on performance, and adjust plans accordingly.


THE PERSON


01-EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND ACHIEVEMENTS

• Educated to at least degree level or equivalent qualification with evidence of ongoing professional development (E)

• Experience of working with creative teams or in a team focused on marketing and or/social media marketing (E)

• Experience of using WeChat and Weibo for professional purposes (E)

• Postgraduate or professional marketing qualification (D)

• Experience of the UK Higher Education system (D)

• Experience of international social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn (D)

• Experience of maintaining a website (D)

• Experience of working with Baidu (D)


02-SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

• Excellent design and creative skills (E)

• Highly developed communication skills, both in written and verbal form (E)

• Fluency in English Language and Mandarin Chinese (E)

• Excellent organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills (E)

• Knowledge of social media scheduling tools and creating social publishing calendars (E)

• Knowledge of social media governance, compliance, and best practice (E) 

• Knowledge of Chinese student recruitment to UK institutions (D)

• Fluency in Cantonese (D)

• Knowledge or experience of creating and shooting videos for social media (D)

• Experience of copyrighting in Chinese (D)
