Duli will be a new vegan food eatery/restaurant in Shanghai. Duli’s mission is to accelerate the world’s transition to plant-based consumption. Duli aims to achieve this in the following 2 ways:
1) Invent and make vegan food dishes that taste so good it will set a new standard on how delicious vegan food can be and 2) make it easily accessible by a) having small accessible eateries at premium locations in cities. And by b) making our brand more cool and casual while avoiding the green, tree-hugging image that many vegan restaurants portray. Thus, making vegan food a part of normal daily life.
Duli’s food inspiration comes from Chengdu’s vegan restaurants (where founder Thijs Bosma used to live) that offer bold flavored fine style vegan food praised by both meat and non-meat eaters. Duli plans to offer tasty Asian-style plant-based food, which may be inspired by fusion-style cuisine. The exact menu and offering will be decided after we have a chef onboard.
To realize our mission, we are looking for a Restaurant Manager located in Shanghai to join us. As Restaurant Manager you will be responsible for overseeing the efficiency of operations and profitability of our restaurant as well as managing our employees. You will be the second person to join the team next to the founder.
Scout and find food/kitchen locations in Shanghai
Arrange and guide the restaurant renovation process by working with consultants, designers, installation and designers
Work with Duli legal team to Setup a local WOFE in Shanghai , opening bank account, etc
Manage and oversee the entire restaurant operations
Recruiting, training and supervising staff
Ensure we will obtain all the required licenses necessary to operate a food establishment in Shanghai
Basic financial tasks such as distributing payment, financial administration and setting/maintaining budgets and forecasts
Agreeing and managing budgets
Ensuring guest satisfaction
Estimate consumption, forecast requirements and maintain inventory
Manage restaurant supplies
Control costs and minimize waste
Implementation of health and safety procedures
Making continuous improvements to the running of the business and developing the restaurant.
Plan and develop the overall restaurant marketing strategy
- 3+ years managing a restaurant
- Extensive knowledge of the food industry in Shanghai
- Organizational skills and the ability to multitask
- Ability to effectively manage people and third parties
- The ability to be proactive and take initiative/responsibility
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends
- Dependable and reliable
- Competent internet (including online research) and computer skills including Office
- Proficient in excel, administration and budget setting/forecasting
- Entrepreneurial attitude that fits the early stage of our business
- Interest in and passion for vegan cuisine
- Detail-oriented
- Strong communication, organizational and leadership skills
- Solid understanding of the costs and margins of food and dishes
- Strong work ethic
- Fluent in English and Chinese
