Finally! New WeChat Android Update Allows Users to Change...

WeChat just released its latest Android update 7.0.15, 

which is packed with new features, including dark mode, group chat solitaire, and floating windows for Mini Programs. 

It also appears that in its new version, WeChat allows users to change their ID, but only once per year, according to a screenshot shared by one user. 

While you may want to rush over to this setting and claim your new creative ID handle before someone else thinks of it, take a few extra seconds to look through the requirements needed to proceed with changing it:

• You have not already changed your ID in the last year.
  

• Your password has not been frozen in the last 2 weeks.

• You must have logged into your account using the same device for at least a week.
  

Failure to meet any or all of the above-mentioned conditions will prevent you from changing your WeChat ID.

Also note that only a small number of beta users have been able to “gray box testing”, a technique to test the software product or application with partial knowledge of the internal workings of an app, to search for the defects, if any, due to improper structure ahead of an official launch.

To change your ID (provided that you meet all conditions), you can open up the app and enter the letter “I”, hit the avatar and “WeChat ID”. The rest is straightforward.

But really think twice before making any changes to your ID. Some netizens have expressed regret in the past for changing their ID to something they soon wanted to get rid of, such as their ex’s name or a slightly young and embarrassing name from the old days.
