Unit 8 for Junior High Physical Education classes was basketball. A high energy game that students love to play!! Basketball is an invasion game:


"In Invasion Games teams score by moving a ball/object into another team's territory and either shooting into a fixed target (a goal or basket) or moving an object across an open-ended target (across a line). To prevent scoring, one team must stop the other team bringing the ball into their

territory and attempting to score."


Basketball fosters individual skills whilst putting that into a team dynamic, where working together and supporting your team mates is crucial for you to be successful. Our students reinforced and practised their fundamental skills (dribbling, passing and shooting) whilst also learning the rules and strategies to be successful. 


Our students showed great focus and determination to improve throughout and we finished the unit with each grade level having team tournaments. Highlighting good sportsmanship and teamwork. Well done students on a fantastic unit.


初中体育课的第8单元是篮球,也是学生非常热衷于参与的高能量项目!!篮球是一项进攻式体育项目:


“在进攻式体育项目中,团队通过将一个球/物体移动到另一个团队的区域内,或者射入一个固定的目标(一个目标或一个篮筐),又或者是将物体越过一个开放式目标(或者跨越一条线)的方式来得分。为防止对方得分,球队必须想办法拦截或制止其将球带入他们的区域并试图得分。”


篮球不仅可以培养个人技能,还可以使团队活力得到最好的发挥,因为只有通过团队共同努力,为队友提供支持才能取得成功。学生们练习并强化了他们的一些基本技能(运球,传球和投篮),同时还学习了取得成功的一些必要规则和策略。


同学们表现出极大的专注力和决心,一直不断地在提高,每个年级都完成了本单元比赛。本单元的学习突出了良好的运动精神和团队合作精神。同学们表现得很棒!

In Junior high school art, students have been learning necessary skills and knowledge throughout the foundation of the elements of art and principles of design by creating different types of portraits during art classes. Under the Alberta curriculum, students require to focus on three major visual art components: Drawing, Compositions of structures, and Encounters with art. By these categories, specific strategies are given to students to understand the meaning of emphasizing skills by Grade 7 through 9th levels.


Grade 7

Students learned the primary contents of art elements to figure out how to create artworks by using those elements then. First, students learned all lists of art elements by visual resources to support their understandings. As for assessment tools, students are requested to do a quiz by using visual elements to write artistic vocabulary. Students understood how to use it as part of the meaningful visual expression. Furthermore, students also experimented "blind contour drawing" for an art activity during class: within a time frame from 1- 3 minutes, students drew partners' faces at each table. It was the most fun and exciting art activity by learning to draw their partners without ever looking at the piece of paper and only marked by pencil lines without lifting a pencil. It is how Grade 7 student's level strength of skills to study a scene closely, observing every shape and edge with their eyes as their hands mimic these on paper.


Grade 8

Students in grade 8 and grade 9 also learned essential contents of knowledge of art elements and principles of design. They added more details of set-up compositions and adaptation of visual images from modern technology applications. Grade 8 students focused on learning proportion for creating self-portraits by utilizing Snapchat's creative self-portrait in transferring their selfies into hands-on drawing experiences. They learned the modern technology changed visual imagery by doing this process and examined, researched how self-portraits evolved transformation of other times.


Grade 9 

Students experimented and used modern social media platforms in their hands-on experiences of creative self-portraits at the same time. For art learning purpose of this class, is that media use to imbue an art program in creating images should be a matter of choice.


在初中美术中,学生们通过在课上创作不同类型的肖像来学习在整个初中美术课程中的一些必须掌握的基础设计技能和基本美学原理知识。在艾伯塔课程体系中,学生在视觉艺术上需要专注于三个方面:绘画,构图和艺术与生活的联系。在这些课题的学习过程中,同学们根据课堂上引导的具体方法来深入学习。


七年级

学生学习了美术的基础元素,从而学习了如何运用这些元素来创作艺术作品。首先,他们通过课堂提供的艺术资源来先理解了一系列他们将要掌握的基础美术词汇,这对后面进一步的动手操作起到一个很好的支撑作用。在掌握了这一阶段的学习后,他们通过一个笔头测试来评估自己本阶段的掌握程度。学生还学习了如何在视觉表达上运用这些词汇。此外,他们还在课上作了“盲轮廓绘图”的尝试:在3分钟以内的时间范围内,每位同学在都会在桌子上画他们伙伴的脸。这个过程非常有趣,非常激动人心,因为同学们仅借助简单的线条来根据对同伴的印象来完成这幅轮廓绘图。这堂课的目的在于让七年级的学生们学习近距离观察,留意人的各面形态、表面形状和眼、手等细节,并将这些观察的心得绘成自己的作品的技巧。


八年级

八年级学生和九年级学生也学习了他们年级相关的基础设计技能和基本美学原理知识。不同的是,他们从现代技术应用程序中添加了更多细节运用,并和视觉图像进行了很好的结合。八年级的学生专注于通过利用Snapchat的创造性自画像,将自拍照转换为动手绘画体验来创建自画像的比例。他们通过这个过程来了解现代技术如何改变视觉图像,并研究了自画像在时代变迁的过程中是如何演变的。


九年级

九年级的学生同时也在尝试用现代社交媒体平台亲身体验创造性的自画像。本节课的目的在于让学生知道如何利用现代媒体来启发艺术的创作。








Music  音乐








For our monthly musical features, February was Black History Month where we discussed Black contributions to music including jazz, blues, rap, and talked about Louis Armstrong. Next, International Women’s Day in March meant that each week, a different female composer would be featured. So far, we have listened to works by Sara Bareilles, Chen Yi, & Caroline Shaw.


Grade 1

Grade 1 students were introduced to dynamics by stomping to hear volume changes with their feet and colouring a dynamics poster. Students then honed their solfege singing by creating a “sol”, “mi”, “do” song as a class, then followed a conductor by playing instruments with the song “Claves & Tambourines”. Students also combined music & art by learning about the artist Wassily Kandinsky and how his condition of synesthesia allowed him to see colours when he heard sounds and music, and vice versa. Students then recreated Kandinsky’s famous Circles painting by choosing colours that inspired them when listening to excerpts of different instruments.


Grade 2

Grade 2 students focussed on “Feelings and Expression” by discussing mood in music. Students also learnt about musical phrases with the Moroccan folk song “Ram Sam Sam”, and were introduced to playing an ostinato with Boomwhacker instruments to the song “Pat-a-Cake”, and are singing the song “I am a Fine Musician”.  Students also combined music & art by learning about the artist Wassily Kandinsky and how his condition of synesthesia allowed him to see colours when he heard sounds and music, and vice versa. Students were able to listen to their musical paintings with a Kandinsky Music App, then created a Kandinsky inspired painting by choosing colours and shapes that inspired them when listening to excerpts of different instruments.


Grade 3

Grade 3 students were introduced to AB and ABA form with the song “1-2-3” and learnt how to create their own form compositions. Students also reviewed different tempo terms, learnt a Japanese mochi making rhythm and beat game called “Omochio”. Students also worked on singing with the song “Grandma Grunts”, and on audiation with the song “Forty Years on an Iceberg”. Students also combined music and art by learning about Impressionist art & music by comparing the artist Claude Monet with the composer Claude Debussy. Students then recreated Monet’s Japanese Water Bridge while listening to a selection of pieces by Debussy.


Grade 4

Grade 4 students learnt about different time signatures and the different conducting patterns associated with those times. Students also reviewed the different rhythms that fit within time signatures. Students created their own 8 beat ostinatos to accompany the song “Boogie” Shoes. For ukulele, students learnt how to sing and play the songs “Frere Jacques”, “Lil Liza Jane”, “Chatter with the Angels”, “Skip to my Lou” and “Oats, Peas, Beans, and Barley”. Most students are now on their orange belt in ukulele karate, congratulations!


Grade 5

Grade 5 students learnt about different musical forms, including asymmetrical and symmetrical rondos. For the past few weeks, students have been working in teams to compose their own rondo which they will perform with a variety of instruments. For ukulele, students learnt how to sing and play the songs “Frere Jacque”, “Lil Liza Jane”, “Chatter with the Angels”, “Skip to my Lou” and “Oats, Peas, Beans, and Barley”. Most students are now on their green or purple belt in ukulele karate, congratulations!


Grade 6

Grade 6 students learnt how to sing and dance to a North American folk dance called “Alabama Gal”, and a line dance called “Cadillac Ranch”. For ukulele, students learnt how to sing and play the songs “Frere Jacques” in canon, “Skip to my Lou”, “Three Blind Mice”, and are now working on an arrangement of “Three Little Birds” by Bob Marley.  Most students are now on their orange belt in ukulele karate book 2, congratulations!


Junior High School - Wind Orchestra

In this past semester, Junior High musicians have continued to grow musically, starting a new repertoire issued from major composers such as James Swearingen and Larry Clark. They are increasing their range, playing more notes everyday! Brass players are meeting with Ms.Lemay on Tuesdays, learning smaller ensemble repertoire and getting specific feedback, while woodwinds players are developing their pitch and getting more confident in their playing every Thursday. As an ensemble, students are refining their precision in articulations and dynamics, paying attention to every movement of the conductor in order to achieve greater results. As their semester comes to an end this week, the Wind Orchestra is getting ready to welcome new musicians and perform on International day!


一年级

一年级的学生通过跺脚来听音量变化,并在动态海报上色来了解动态。随后,学生们在课堂上创作了一首“sol”、“mi”、“do”歌曲,以此来磨练自己的视唱,然后在指挥的指导下用乐器演奏了一首“击木和铃鼓”。学生们还通过学习艺术家瓦西里·康定斯基(Wassily Kandinsky),以及他的联觉状态如何让他在听到声音和音乐时看到颜色,反之亦然,将音乐和艺术结合起来。然后,学生们在听不同乐器的选段时,通过选择能激发他们灵感的颜色来重现康定斯基著名的圆圈画。


二年级

三年级

通过歌曲“1-2-3”向三年级学生介绍AB和ABA曲式,并学习如何创作自己的曲式作品。学生们还复习了不同的拍子术语,学习了制作日本麻薯的节奏和打拍子的游戏“Omochio”。学生们还唱起了歌曲”奶奶咕哝“,并听了歌曲“冰山上的四十年”。学生们还通过比较艺术家克劳德-莫奈和作曲家克劳德-德布西来学习印象派艺术和音乐,从而将音乐和艺术结合起来。然后,学生们一边听德彪西的精选曲目,一边重现莫奈的日本水桥。


四年级

四年级学生学习了不同的拍子标记和与这些拍子相关的不同的指挥模式。学生们还复习了符合拍子标记的不同节奏。学生们创造了自己的8节拍固定音托来配合歌曲“Boogie”鞋子。在尤克里里乐器项目中,学生们学习了如何演唱和演奏《雅克兄弟》、《Lil Liza Jane》、《与天使聊天》、《跳跃的灵魂》和《燕麦、豌豆、豆子和大麦》等歌曲。大多数学生现在都拿到了尤克里里琴的空手道橙色腰带,恭喜!


五年级

初中-管乐团

在过去的一个学期里,初中生的音乐家们继续在音乐上成长。开始了一些主要作曲家如詹姆斯·斯威灵珍和拉里•克拉克的新曲目。他们正在增加他们的音域,每天演奏更多的音符! 每周二,铜管乐手与勒梅老师会面,学习较小的合奏曲目,并获得具体的反馈; 每周四,木管乐手都在提高自己的音色,对自己的演奏更加自信。作为一个合奏组,学生们正在提高他们在衔接和力度上的精确度,关注指挥的每一个动作,以达到更好的效果。这个星期,他们的学期就要结束了,管乐团正准备迎接新的音乐家,并在国际日演出!

In ELL, the students have been working vigorously with retelling stories and learning about descriptive writing. Retelling is an important skill. It helps the students understand and be able to identify the literary elements of a story and main idea. The activity that followed the lesson was creating a video that retells a famous Chinese story using English. The students had several steps before shooting and creating the video. Step 1: Research a Famous Chinese Story. Step 2: Write the story in Chinese, then translate to English. Step 3: List the characters, setting, theme, and plot. Step 4: Assign parts to group members. Step 5: Write a script detailing all parts of the story using group members. Step 6: Record the video. Step 7: Edit the video. Step 8: Add the voices of group members telling the story. Step 9: Check and create final draft. Step 10: Submit the final video.


This week, the skill taught was Descriptive writing. Writing is an important skill the kids will use daily in their everyday lives. Descriptive writing is done by using many adjectives. The objective of Descriptive writing is to transport the reader to a new world by adjectives and very detailed descriptions. This type of writing uses the five senses: see, hear, taste, feel and smell to create visuals through words. The students created letters to their mothers describing why they love their moms. Also, they are creating stories based on a picture. The students of ELL are growing daily and learning daily. In our family, we all successful and grow together.

Mandarin - Native  中文母语班

Grade 1

From the end of the Spring Festival holiday to now, in native Mandarin class, in addition to completing the texts, new words, phrases and sentences of lesson 9 and lesson 10 of textbook MeiZhou Chinese, we have also learned ancient poems such as “the hermit never meets” and “on the pool”. In addition, we also did some activities about the traditional culture of the Spring Festival and related ancient poems. At the beginning of the new term, children are full of enthusiasm for Chinese learning.


一年级

在中文课,从春节假期结束到现在,一年级母语班除了完成《美洲华语》课本第9、10课课文、生字、词语以及句子的学习之外,我们也学了《寻隐者不遇》、《池上》等古诗。另外 ,我们也做了一些有关春节传统文化和相关古诗的活动。新学期伊始,孩子们对中文学习充满了热情。

Grade 2

During this period, in the second-grade native class, we mainly explored the Unit 6 content of "Meizhou Chinese".


The text of the sixth unit is "Song of the Little River", and the story is "The Travel of Little Water Drops". After the students mastered the basic knowledge of Chinese, we carried out the expansion of the theme, such as how does the rain come? The students drew the "Schematic Diagram of Water Circulation" with both pictures and texts marked.


In addition, we reviewed the ancient poem "Deng Guanquelou", and learned the new ancient poem "Children Fishing" and so on.


二年级

这段时间, 在二年级母语班,我们主要探究了《美洲华语》第六单元的内容。


第六单元的课文有《小河的歌》,故事有《小水滴旅行》。同学们在掌握基础的汉语知识之后,我们进行了主题的拓展探究,比如雨是怎么来的?同学们图文并茂绘制了《水的循环示意图》。除此之外,我们复习了古诗《登鹳雀楼》,并且学了新的古诗《小儿垂钓》等。

Grade 3

During this period, the students of the Grade 3 studied the four texts of "the North Wind and the Sun", "the mouse marries the bride", "who am I like", "I want to help Grandpa" and the poem "A Failing Visit to a Garden". In the teaching of reading, students have mastered the methods of reading and learned how to apply the methods they have learned to extracurricular reading. In word teaching, students learn the correct way of writing words and can distinguish near words. In poetry teaching, by connecting with the context, students can initially understand the meaning of words and sentences and experience the thoughts and feelings expressed in poetry. In the teaching of writing, we have learned rhetorical devices,such as metaphors and personification.Students can flexibly use these rhetorical devices in their writing.


三年级

这段时间,在三年级母语班,我们学习了《北风和太阳》、《老鼠娶新娘》、《我跟谁一样》、《我要帮助爷爷》这四篇课文和《游园不值》这首诗歌。在阅读教学中,学生掌握了阅读方法,并学会了如何将学到的方法运用到课外阅读中。在词语教学中,学生学会了词语的正确书写方式,能够辨别形近字。在诗歌教学中,通过联系上下文,学生能够初步理解词句意思,体会诗歌所表达的思想感情。在写作教学中,我们学习了一些修辞手法,例如比喻、拟人。学生在写作中能够灵活运用这些修辞方式。

Grade 4

This month has been busy and we finished up some units in March. As usual, we learned the vocabulary, grammar and summary. We also studied the Chinese ancient poem "Written on the Wall at West Forest Temple". We have various activities in class, such as discussion, group writing , question and answer. 


In Calligraphy class wih Master Qiao, students got a great improvement in Chinese brush writing. Students are fascinated in it.


In addition, we reviewed the ancient poem "Deng Guanquelou", and learned the new ancient poem "Children Fishing" and so on.


四年级

三月是一个忙碌的月份,我们在这个月里已经完成了两个单元的学习。像往常一样,我们学习了词汇、语法和如何进行概括。我们还学习了古诗“题西林壁”。我们经常采用的讨论法、课堂活动是小组合作和问答法。


在乔老师的书法课上,学生们的毛笔水平有了很大的提高。学生们也十分喜欢上书法课。

Grade 6

In the past month, the G6 native class has learned some ancient poems such as “looking for flowers alone by the river” and “Spring Festival in Beijing” and done some related exercises in the Chinese class; we have read the new words in some other textbooks and completed some related exercises; we have also learned some traditional culture about the Spring Festival and some historical stories. Students are more and more enthusiastic about learning Chinese.


六年级

在过去的一个月时间里,六年级母语班在中文课学习了古诗《江畔独步寻花》、《北京的春节》等篇目以及做了相关的练习;认读了人教版课本中的生字词以及完成了相关的练习;我们也了解了一些关于春节的传统文化和一些历史故事。同学们对于中文学习越来越踊跃。

Grade 7

During this period, in the seventh-grade native class, we conducted research on Lu Xun's literature and appreciated the Han Yuefu poetry-"Mulan Poetry".


We selected the article "A Chang and the Book of Mountains and Seas" from the collection of essays "Crossing Flowers in the Evening".


In the class of reading teaching, we give the initiative of reading to students. Let students get unique feelings and experiences  that are full of personality.


In the writing teaching, we analyzed the detailed and appropriate writing skills, and encouraged students to apply it  in the daily writing process.


“Yuefu” is famous for the two class poems, such as "Mulan Poetry" and "Peacock Flying Southeast" .


The story of Mulan joining the army on behalf of her father is well known in our country. After studying, the students agreed that Mulan is not only a heroine who is bravely fighting on the battlefield, but also a girl who is charming and lovely. Since ancient times, loyalty and filial piety are difficult to have both. Fish and bear's paw cannot have both. Mulan did it successfully.


After  ten or twenty years, students will be able to happily talk about Chinese culture and the story of Mulan on a certain occasion. Maybe, this is the value of our classroom.



七年级

这段时间,在七年级母语班,我们进行了鲁迅文学的探究,并且欣赏了汉乐府诗文——《木兰诗》。


我们从散文集《朝花夕拾》中选取了《阿长与<山海经>》这篇文章。在阅读教学的课堂上,我们把阅读主动权交给学生。让学生获得富有个性的独特感受和体验。在写作教学中, 我们分析了详略得当和欲扬先抑的写作手法,并且鼓励大家在平时的写作过程中能够借鉴运用。

Grade 8

Grade 9

During this period, the native students of the Grade 9 studied the style of novels and enjoyed two representative short stories-Kong Yiji and the Chameleon. And we launched a debate on "whether today's society is a face-looking" as the topic of debate.In the teaching of reading, we give the reading initiative to the students.On the basis of combing the plot and analyzing the characters,we let the students get a unique feeling and experience full of personality. In the teaching of writing, we analyze the writing techniques of appropriate details and detailed description, and encourage everyone to use them for reference in the usual writing process.


The debating competition helps to broaden the students' thinking and exercise the debaters' oral expression ability. A debate contest with the topic of "whether today's society is a face-looking society" exercises students' thinking ability, on-the-spot response ability and the ability of unity among debate teams.After learning, students' logical thinking ability, expression ability and reading ability have been significantly improved.


九年级

这段时间,在九年级母语班,我们学习了小说这种文体,欣赏了两篇代表性短篇小说——《孔乙己》和《变色龙》,并且开展了一场以“当今社会是否是一个看脸的社会”为辩题的辩论赛。在阅读教学的课堂上,我们把阅读主动权交给学生,在梳理情节、分析人物形象的基础上让学生获得富有个性的独特感受和体验。在写作教学中,我们分析了详略得当和细节描写的写作手法,并且鼓励大家在平时的写作过程中能够借鉴运用。


辩论赛有助于开阔学生思维,锻炼辩者的口头表达能力。一场以“当今社会是否是一个看脸的社会”为辩题的辩论赛锻炼了学生的思维能力、临场反应能力以及辩论团队之间的团结协助能力。经过学习,学生的逻辑思维能力、表达能力和阅读能力都得到了显著的提升。

Grade 11

G11 students have complete a lot in a month study of Chinese Language Art, which includes the journey of exploration one of the famous novel in modern Chinese literature history namely Bian Cheng and a cultural tour of Greek civilization, in which students investigated the democracy of Athens, two significance wars in the history of ancient Greece.


G11 students spent two weeks on studying the plots and character analysis base on Bian Cheng. We adopt T.E.E writing structure to do character and theme analysis. T stands for topic sentence, the first E stands for evidence while the second E means explanation. Students are also asked to link back to the topic sentence in the end. I am glad to see students are work hard on this and I believe they will be very successful in writing analytic essay later this semester. 


For the Greek civilization, one of our students offers to show video to students the cultural tour of ancient Greece.  The videos are from a computer game named Assassin’s Creed, where students can really see what was Athens and Spartan city-state look like, and understand what and how happened in Hippo wars and  Peloponnesian war. Except teacher’s instruction, students are also asked to present one of famous Greek figure to the whole class. Students are grouping in two, and they collaborate and share ideas. G11 students will have a unit test after spring break.



十一年级

在过去一个月中,十一年级的中国文学课程完成了本学期第一部中国现当代长篇小说以及希腊文明的学习。本学期将学习三本长篇小说,分别是沈从文的《边城》,余华的《活着》以及钱钟书的《围城》。此外,学生们还要在书单中挑选一部长篇小说作为个人阅读作品。


在《边城》的学习中,中文老师带领同学们仔细考察小说的细节,了解故事如何通过三个端午节串联起来,并且探究了小说中的环境描写。最后学生们还使用TEE的论文写作方式,练习人物形象分析、心理描写和环境描写的评论。


在希腊文明的学习中,学生主动建议采取电脑游戏《刺客信条-奥德赛》中的旅游模式进行开篇学习。在这些极具代入感和真实性的场景中,学生们不仅看到古希腊各城邦的地理特点、人文风俗,也极大地激发了学生们对希腊文化的探究兴趣。在两个多星期的学习中,学生理解希腊文明的精神内核:民主、自由与理性,同时也因着对希波战争和伯罗奔尼撒战争的学习,明白希腊文明如何走向衰落。最后学生们还通过两人合作的方式研究希腊文化璀璨的明星,诸如毕达哥拉斯、索福克勒斯、希波克拉底等人物。

Grade 12

G12 students have finished the first two unit which are Film and Literature Comparison and the play named Leiyu. The learning objectives of unit one are as followed,


1. Understand the thoughts, feelings and artistic atmosphere of literature and film adapted from the work

2. Analyzing, comparing, appreciating and evaluating literature and expressive methods of film adapted from literature. 

3. Appreciate the beauty of content

4. Cultivate the interest in reading classic works


Students not just read literature works which include novels, short stories and traditional Chinese prose but also watch the adapted film. After that, students explored the differences between the two genres of works. Different kind of assessments includes quizzes, presentations and essays are applied in this unit to develop and supports students' metacognitive skills. 


And the learning outcomes of unit two are as follow,


1.Students are able to connect what they have learned with life experience, understand the writer’s feelings, and have personal thoughts

2. Students are able to use basic literary knowledge to understand and analyze the characteristics of play

3. Able to use basic literary knowledge to appreciate and comment on plays from different perspectives.


十二年级

开学一个多月以来,十二年级学生完成了前两个单元的学习。第一单元为《文学名著与电影改编》第二单元学习曹禺的《雷雨》。第一单元的学习目标为:


1. 感受名著和由名著改编的影视作品的思想感情和艺术氛围

2. 分析、比较、欣赏、评价名著和由名著改编的影视作品的表达手法和呈现效果

3. 鉴赏名著和由名著改编的影视作品的内容美与形式美


在《文学名著与电影改编》的这个单元,我们详细对比了文学名著和电影这两个文学体裁的异同点。两者的差异包括叙事符号、接收方式、生产方式的不同。同时也使用不同的案例说明电影改编的常用方法,即移植、增补、删减和重塑。我们在学习此单元过程中,所选用的文学文本包括文言小说、传奇、中篇小说以及现当代长篇小说。学生们被评估的方式除了作业、考试以外,还有合作探究、演讲以及写影评。


第二单元为戏剧,学生的学习成果为:

1. 能联系生活经验,体悟作家的情怀,并有个人的感受

2. 能运用文学基础知识,理解和分析戏剧文学作品的特色

3. 能运用文学基础知识,从不同角度赏析、评论戏剧文学作品的思想内容和艺术特色,并有个人的见解


Mandarin - Non-native  中文非母语班

Grade 1

By the end of March, G1 Non-native students had learned all the contents of "Easy Steps to Chinese for Kids” 2A. Now they can skillfully read and say 30 words about friends, colors, toys, daily activities and other topics, and can fluently express their views, such as I love reading, I like purple, and I can wear clothes. Can also accurately describe their own situation and the color of the object, such as I have two sisters, I comb my hair every day, yellow bananas, black shoes and so on. The classroom activities we often use in class are recognizing cards, coloring games and teamwork to make sentences. Children learn to speak Chinese in games.


一年级

截止到三月底,一年级的学生已经学完《轻松学中文》(少儿版)2A的全部内容。现在他们能熟练认读30个有关朋友、颜色、玩具、日常活动等主题的词汇,并且能流利地表达自己的观点,如我爱看书、我喜欢紫色、我会穿衣服。还能准确地描述自己的情况和物体的颜色,如我有两个姐姐、我每天梳头、黄色的香蕉,黑色的鞋子等。我们在课堂上经常采用的课堂活动是认读词卡、涂色游戏和团队合作造句子。孩子们在游戏中学会说中文。

Grade 2

By the end of March, G2 Non-native students had learned lessons 1-4 of "Easy Steps to Chinese for Kids” 2B. Now we are learning lesson 5: Tigers and Elephants. Through the study during this period, now they can basically read and say about 20 words about weeks, time, stationery, classroom supplies and other topics, and can express their views fluently. For example, this is my ruler, I like tigers, I like elephants and so on. They can also accurately say the day and time and describe the color of the object, such as today is Monday, it's eight o'clock, red pencil, yellow eraser, purple comb and so on. In class, we often use classroom activities such as recognizing cards, drawing and group competitions, where children learn to speak Chinese in games.


二年级

截止到三月底,二年级非母语班的学生正在学习《轻松学中文》少儿版2B第五课:老虎、大象。通过这段时期的学习,现在他们能够较为熟练地认读20个左右有关星期、时间、文具、教室用品等主题的词汇,并且能够比较流利地表达自己的观点,比如这是我的尺子、我喜欢老虎、我喜欢大象等。他们还能准确的说出星期和时间和描述出物体的颜色,比如今天星期一,现在八点了、红色的铅笔、黄色的橡皮、紫色的梳子等。在课堂上,我们经常采用是认读词卡、画画和小组竞赛的课堂活动,孩子们在游戏当中学说中文。

Grade 3

At present, G3 Non-native students are learning lesson 4 of "Easy Steps to Chinese for Kids” 3B: I love singing. By the end of March, we had studied stationery, classroom supplies, orientation, activities and other related topics. Through this period of study, students can basically read 20 new words related to the above topics, and can fluently describe the location of objects, such as computers in the classroom, textbooks in the schoolbag, chairs in front of me, and so on. Can also accurately express their own views, such as I like singing, I do not like dancing. In addition to learning the knowledge in textbooks, we also set up a calligraphy class and invited Mr. Qiao to teach the children how to write Chinese characters with brush strokes.


三年级

目前我们正在学习《轻松学中文》少儿版3B第四课我爱唱歌。截止到三月底,我们已经学习了文具、教室用品、方位、文体活动等相关主题。通过这段时间的学习,学生们能够基本认读20个有关以上主题的生词,并且能够流利地描述物品的位置,如教室里有电脑、书包里有课本、椅子在我前面等。还能准确地表达自己的观点,比如我爱唱歌、我不喜欢跳舞。三年级的孩子除了学习课本上的知识,我们还开设了书法课,邀请了乔老师为孩子们讲授如何用毛笔字写汉字。

Grade 4

The learning topics for this month are The Weather and The Clothes. Learning Chinese through ballads, stories, crafts and games can stimulate the interest of non-native children in the early stage of primary school in learning Chinese. G4 non-native class is a happy class!


四年级

这个月我们学习和探究了“天气”和“衣服”两大主题。通过歌谣、故事、手工和游戏来学习中文,更能激发孩子们学习中文的兴趣。四年级非母语班是一个快乐的班级!








Grade 5

After the end of the Spring Festival holiday, the first thing for our non-native students is to learn more about the traditional cultural of the Chinese Spring Festival, such as making red envelopes and making lanterns on the Lantern Festival. The students are very attentive in the whole process. In addition, we have also completed the study of the text, new words, and sentences of lesson 8 of the textbook Easy Steps to Chinese. We also did some special exercises on listening and reading. The students have made great progress.


五年级

结束春节假期之后,我们非母语的同学们回到学校中文课的第一件事就是了解更多关于中国春节的传统文化活动,比如做红包,在元宵节做灯笼等,同学们在整个过程中都非常用心;另外,我们也完成了课本《轻松学中文》第8课课文、生词、句子等的学习;我们还做了一些听力和阅读的专项练习。同学们有了很大的进步。









Grade 6

During this time, in the sixth-grade non-native class, we mainly learned Lesson 7 and Lesson 8 content of "Easy steps to Chinese". The theme of the seventh lesson is: Hobbies and Music. The theme of the eighth lesson is: hobbies and sports.


Students can inquire and express hobbies, including music and sports now. They can express how long it takes to do a thing, express the general state of the action or its ongoing. Also, they express simple wishes, such as listening to music or running and swimming.


Finally, we explored traditional Chinese architecture. The traditional buildings painted by our students are very beautiful. The students sighed that the combination of our buildings is a beautiful city.


六年级

这段时间, 六年级非母语班我们主要学习了《轻松学中文》的第七课和第八课的内容。第七课的主题是:爱好·音乐。第八课的主题是:爱好·运动。


现在学生们能够询问及表达爱好,包括音乐和体育运动。能够表达花多长时间做一件事情,表达动作的一般状态或者正在进行。还能够表达简单的意愿,比如喜欢听音乐或者喜欢跑步和游泳。


最后,我们对中国传统建筑进行了探究。大家手绘的传统建筑非常漂亮。同学们感叹,大家的建筑组合在一起就是一座美丽的城市。

Grade 7

At present, we have learned all the contents of lesson 7 of "Easy Steps to Chinese" 4. Next, we will study the subject of the examination in lesson 8. In March, we learned two topics: pets and school. The two topics include about 50 new words, four texts and simple Chinese grammar.


Through this period of study, seventh-grade children can accurately read 50 new words and write them more correctly. In class, students are required to read the text very fluently and express their views. In March, the students completed a total of three compositions, namely: an introduction to pets, an introduction to a day's life and an introduction to the school. We also had four dictation of new words. For seventh graders, the most difficult part to remember in March is the collocation of quantifiers and nouns. There are many quantifiers in Chinese, such as个、只、张、场、次、座、幅and so on. These quantifiers have to be matched with fixed nouns, which is a big challenge for them. In the follow-up study, we will continue to train the collocation of quantifiers.


七年级

目前我们已经学完了《轻松学中文》4第七课的全部内容,接下来我们将会学习第八课考试这一主题。三月,我们一共学习了两个主题:宠物和学校。这两个主题一共包括约50个生词、四篇短文和简单的汉语语法。


通过这段时间的学习,七年级的孩子们能够准确地认读50个生词,并且能够比较正确地书写这50个生词。在课上,学生们被要求非常流利地朗读课文,并且表达自己的观点。在三月份,学生们一共完成了三篇作文,分别是:介绍宠物、介绍一天的生活以及介绍学校。我们还进行了四次生词听写。对于七年级学生来说,三月最难记忆的知识点就是量词和名词的搭配。汉语当中有非常多的量词,比如说个、只、张、场、次、座、幅等等,这些量词都要和固定的名词搭配,这对于他们来说是一个不小的挑战。在后续的学习当中,我们会继续训练量词的搭配。

Grade 8

At present, we have finished all the contents of lesson 3 of "Easy Steps to Chinese" 5. Next, we will learn the topic of climate in lesson 4. In March, we learned two topics: hobbies and making friends. These two topics include about 60-70 new words, four articles and simple Chinese grammar. Through this period of study, eighth-grade children can accurately read the 60-70 new words and write them more correctly. In class, students are required to read the text very fluently and express their views. In March, the students completed one composition, one presentation and four dictation. The theme of the composition is to introduce my best friend. In addition, we will also study grammar. In March, eighth-grade students learned a total of several grammars: 比sentences, quantifiers, adverbs, fixed sentence patterns and so on. In the follow-up study, we will continue to train writing.


八年级

目前我们已经学完了《轻松学中文》5第三课的全部内容,接下来我们将会学习第四课气候这一主题。三月,我们一共学习了两个主题:爱好和交友。这两个主题一共包括约60-70个生词、四篇文章和简单的汉语语法。通过这段时间的学习,八年级的孩子们能够准确地认读这60-70个生词,并且能够比较正确地书写这些生词。在课上,学生们被要求非常流利地朗读课文,并且表达自己的观点。在三月份,学生们一共完成了1篇作文、一次作文演讲展示和四次听写。作文的主题是介绍我最好的朋友。在中文课上,所有的孩子都被要求认读词语和课文,除此之外我们还会进行语法的学习,三月份八年级的学生一共学习了这样几个语法:比字句、量词、副词、固定句式等等。在后续的学习当中,我们会继续训练写作。

Grade 9

This month has been busy with projects as we are coming close report card time and finishing up some units in March.                                                                                    

In our non-native Chinese class, we finished with the "delicious food” and "festivals" units, students enjoyed the topics we learnt.  In our class, we are working on vocabulary, grammar and communication skills.


九年级

我们本月忙于课程专题研究,因为我们快临近成绩报告单的时间了。                                


在我们的中文课里面,我们已经完成了“美食”和“节日”两大单元。学生非常喜欢这两个单元的话题。另外,我们也致力于学习生词、语法以及交际能力的技巧的学习等。









Grade 11

Due to the differences in the level of students, Grade 11 is divided into two parts during this period: Some students continue to learn Easy Steps to Chinese 2, implementing the foundation of Chinese learning; they learn the key contents of the second volume of HSK4, interspersed with HSK5's new words and grammar learning, and in order to improve their Chinese reading ability, they will receive an extracurricular reading article in Chinese(which usually about Chinese culture or society) on weekends.


In the study of Easy Steps to Chinese 2, we reviewed the text topics we had learned before, and during this period we learned the topics of Seeing a Doctor and Hobbies, and interspersed with the review of Subjects, Appearance, Weather and other topics; after learning each lesson, the students were required to master the relevant new words and grammar, and complete the corresponding exercises, while trying to read the text and new words without pinyin.


In the study of HSK, the main emphasis is set on dictation of new words, reading of texts without pinyin, and learning of key grammar. During this period, we learned 82 new words and 11 key grammars. at the same time, we studied and discussed related words and expressions during the Spring Festival, Lantern Festival, International Working Women's Day and other festivals, such as watching the documentary "Chinese Spring Festival" and the classic animation film "Mulan". At the same time, we read Chinese articles related to Chinese traditional culture and modern society.


十一年级

由于学生们的水平差异,十一年级在这段时间中被分为了两个部分分开授课:部分学生继续学习轻松学中文2的内容,落实中文学习的基础;他们学习HSK4下册中的重点内容,同时穿插HSK5的生词和语法学习,为了提高中文阅读能力,在周末时她学生们还会收到一篇中文课外阅读。


在轻松学中文2的学习中,我们复习了以前学习过的课文主题,并在这段时间里学习了看病,兴趣等主题,并穿插了学科,长相,天气等主题的复习;同学们在学习完每一课后都被要求掌握相关的生词和语法,并完成相应的练习题,同时尝试做到脱离拼音朗读课文与生字词。


在HSK的学习中,主要重点设置为生字词的听写,无拼音课文的朗读,以及重点语法的学习。在这段时间内,我们学习了82个生词和11个重点语法,同时在春节,元宵节,妇女节等节日时展开了相关词语和表达的学习与讨论,如观看《中国的春节》纪录片和经典动画电影《花木兰》等,同时阅读了与中国传统节日、中国社会相关的汉语文章。
