The forum will explore how art can become a catalyst for action in the era of climate crisis, drawing from their respective practices and sharing insights into the relationship between weather and individual existence.
Long Xingru will present her recent research on meteorological history and weather aesthetics, providing critical analysis in conjunction with the artworks on display. He Zike will center her discussion around her exhibited work titled "Random Access" (2023), shedding light on the interplay between weather, data, and the relationship between the natural clouds and data clouds. Yang Naitian and Liu Lin, on the other hand, will share their perspectives on the exhibition's theme, discussing how the exhibition space, as a "temporary architecture," can engage viewers on an emotional level and how locality can be involved in global climate issues and practices.

Fictional Satire
In the second exhibition of the Tunnel Project, artist Zhang Yi continues to explore the concept of her book sculptures, creatively echoing the damp and confined exhibition space while establishing cultural connections to the local context. Yao Siqing, the curator, will also elaborate on how, in this particular personal project of the artist, the curator has been able to provide close attention and assistance.

Opening Performance
The completion of the ‘Inquisition Valley’ scene depends on the opening performance. This performance further theatricalize the tunnel space, where the ‘people of Inquisition Valley’ perform their absurd acts. ‘Inquisition Valley’, however, is a fictional place where human actions activate and manifest the characteristics of the space and surroundings and, in turn, influence the spiritual power of the people inside.

Fabrication through collage construction is at the center of Zhang Yi’s practice of sculpture. Her working process is highly intuitive and based on actions -- constructing something that results in a vibration of poetic mystery. Her original sensation, the one she gets from certain found materials, leads to a series of actions altering the original purpose of the materials and transforming them by slightly altering them and combining them into something new. In her recent projects, many of the works are wearable or portable, she attempts to develop a more bodily language to respond to specific political issues. Entering Yi's art scene, one often experiences the subtle fusion of historical and cultural imagination with current emotional experience.
