宏藝艺术家｜Lee Prescott
我的作品依靠色彩、意象和构图来传达情感，或是在观者中激发出某种情感。目前我主要在使用的两种媒介是拼贴画和绘画，它们各自都在与观者的沟通中发挥着独特的作用。
拼贴画
创作中，我会将一些中国老杂志里的图像与西方杂志相结合，其中对人类形象与非人类元素的组合尤其感兴趣。我喜欢各种色彩、质感和阴影的相互碰撞。
我创作的拼贴作品是耐得住详细考究的，观者可以从细节中寻找各种相辅相成的元素。除了细看也可以远观，去整体地欣赏画面上色彩与意象的组合与冲撞。
本次参展的拼贴展示了这次展览中人的元素—我们渴望通过消费来达到社会对我们的预期，但到头来却仍然迷失在都市中。
因为对社交媒体的过度依赖，我们将自己置于一种永不休止的监控中，同时，我们也接受了处在庞大社会“机器”之中的无力与挫败——这些议题我的拼贴也有触及。
绘画
我会用浓郁的色彩和尖锐的角度来营造出一种潜藏的张力和暗黑感，而我选用的多层颜料则给画面一种深度，也意味着作品之下涌动的暗流。
这些作品传达了这次展览的情绪氛围，展示了社会和都市的大环境对我们中一些人的影响。
这些画面看起来像一片熟悉又陌生、美丽但险峻的地貌，而这，我认为，恰恰是在大城市生活的缩影——对于一些人，它可以是美妙的，而对于其他人则正相反。

My artwork relies on colour, imagery and composition to convey a feeling or trigger a feeling within the viewer. The two main mediums that I am working on at the moment are collage and painting. Each of these mediums have a distinct role in communicating something to the viewer.
I have worked in collage for over 10 years. My collage work is about absurdity, surrealism, humor and something darker.
I use images from old Chinese magazines and combine them with Western magazines. I’m interested in the combination of human figures and non-human elements. I love the combination of colours, textures and shadows.

My complex collages are made to be studied in detail to find all the composite parts that compliment each other and also to seen from afar to appreciate the rich bundle of colours or imagery.
My collages for the exhibition show the human element of the show’s concept. The need to consume to fit in with what’s expected of us in society but still being lost in the metropolis.
The never-ending surveillance that is self-imposed by our over reliance of social media and the acceptance that we lost in the ‘machine’ are touched upon in my collages.
My paintings are much more minimal with a heavier reliance on color and composition. The job of my paintings is to create a particular mood.
I use rich colors and sharp angles to give a feeling of underlying tension and darkness. I use multiple layers of paint to give the paintings a depth that signifies the dark undercurrent in the piece.
The pieces convey the mood of the show’s concept. The paintings signify the effects that the atmosphere created by societies and megacities have on some of us.
The paintings look like a landscape that is familiar yet unfamiliar, beautiful yet harsh. This is, in my opinion, a microcosm of life in a major city; it can be a beautiful experience for some but a disturbing experience for others.

我的艺术作品代表了我。它反映了我把什么界定为美，什么给我带来快乐，什么使我兴奋，以及我想看见什么。它被我的所听、所读、所看及所思影响。这其中的美，就在于我的作品对每一个观众都会带着不同的意义。
My name is Lee Prescott. I am an artist from the U.K. currently living in Shenzhen.
Art, like music, is a medium that has an effect on the listener or viewer. Each person has their own history that leads them to view the world in a particular way. No one’s view of the world is entirely the same, and this is what makes art so interesting; everyone is affected by it in different ways.
My artwork is a representation of me. It reflects what I class as beauty, what makes me happy, what excites me, and what I want to see. It is influenced by what I listen to, what I read, what I see and what I think. The beauty is that my work will mean something different to each person who views it.
