Katy Ann Gilmore’s art is a dance between mathematics and emotion, a delicate interplay where lines and spaces merge to question our perceptions of depth and reality. Her work, deeply rooted in the logic of architecture and the precision of perspective, transcends mere calculation, transforming into a visual language that speaks to the very essence of space.

Gilmore's works, though based on mathematical formulas and equations, are not mere abstractions but tangible manifestations of her curiosity about space and its infinite possibilities. As lines shift and shapes warp, her art transforms walls into portals to other dimensions.

These seemingly digital lines are not computer-generated but are meticulously hand-drawn by Gilmore. Despite being hand-drawn, she often uses mathematical formulas, charts, or equations to achieve the desired results.

"The illusion of depth and space is crucial to how we perceive and navigate the environment around us. We construct these images through movement, and ultimately, I want the viewer to move within the physical space. Vanishing points shift, shapes warp, and the shapes on the wall appear more like gateways to another universe."

Born in Illinois, Gilmore currently lives and works in Los Angeles. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including at DENK Gallery in Los Angeles and GALERIE WENGER in Zurich. Her murals are collected by companies like Google, Vans, Facebook, and Uber, and she has created commissioned window displays for Hermès in Kuwait City.

CHANGEPHEL's upcoming series, the "Katy Series," is inspired by several remarkable works by contemporary visual artist Katy Ann Gilmore. This collaboration is presented by CHANGEPHEL and DOSE Gallery. The combination of high-quality Tibetan wool and expert hand-weaving craftsmanship results in pieces that exude a simple, bright, and orderly aesthetic, while also bringing a gentle texture to three-dimensional visual grids.

Blending modern aesthetics with high-end craftsmanship, the series embodies the essence of contemporary fashion. The three-dimensional spaces in Gilmore's works are brought to life through the exquisite Tibetan carpet weaving techniques. The rare black carpet, with its strong visual tension and high-end feel, complements minimalist and luxurious interior styles perfectly.

This delicate and compact carpet is suitable for both indoor and outdoor environments. It is entirely hand-woven using 100% natural Tibetan wool. The design is inspired by the artist's "Folding" series. When a piece of paper is folded into an irregular shape, the play of folds and shadows begins. This simple discovery brings a delightful charm to the carpet.

The lively red color adds a sense of passion and dynamism to any home. The unique colors of the Tibetan carpet come from over 200 custom-developed colors by CHANGEPHEL. We also use Swiss Klein eco-friendly dyeing agents, which ensure excellent colorfastness while maintaining a low carbon footprint.

This high-quality carpet draws inspiration from Gilmore's "Folding" series. The delicate lines outline paper folds, with white lines resembling traces of thought, sketched onto neutral, soft tones. In the flow of texture, it exudes an intellectual and restrained charm.

If a carpet can evoke lively, light, and joyful feelings, this carpet is the perfect choice. Its shape recalls paper airplanes and the blue sky. During moments of relaxation, close your eyes and imagine the sensation of a paper airplane gliding gently through the air on this carpet.

In her work, Gilmore demonstrates a strategic, controlled, and logical approach to thinking. Her aesthetic and creativity are built on this method, which relies on a mathematical way of working. This carpet boasts a stronger sense of visual order and focus, making it an excellent choice for spatial decoration.

The balanced visual touch and the meticulous craftsmanship are the charm of this carpet. The bold color scheme and sharp lines express the attitude of contemporary, understated luxury living. We hope to share the spirit of the designer's free exploration through these works.
