The Most Solemnly Sworn Words Tend to Be Lies
Some people have immense greed for wealth.
To satisfy their selfish greed, they can be clever and eloquent, and only beautiful lies flow from their mouths.
For instance, if they see an exquisite, luxurious bowl in someone’s home,
they will use all means possible to make it their own, persisting until they have attained their goal.
They might first direct some artful talk at the owner, praising the bowl’s exquisite craftsmanship, its long history, and so on.
Then they would flatter the owner, saying how gracious and noble he is.
After this, they might present all sorts of evidence to prove they have an intimate connection to the owner, almost like family.
Finally, they would solemnly vow that if the owner were to make a gift of the bowl, in the future they would wholeheartedly support him,
even leaping into a boiling cauldron or a blazing fire for this profound debt of gratitude.
The fact is, if the owner were to trust them and make a gift of the bowl, they would instantly banish from their mind every word just uttered—never mind repaying the debt of gratitude!
In another scenario, if they were to find out that someone urgently needed some funds, they would do everything possible to meddle and obstruct the matter.
像这样的人,自己希求某些物品时,就对他人恭维赞叹;
When people like this are in pursuit of certain possessions, they will flatter and praise others;
when others acquire something new, however, their jealousy erupts immediately.
Whatever they do, they are full of cunning and deceit.
These behaviors are truly detestable!
