The World Internet Conference (WIC) introduces the World Internet Conference Distinguished Contribution Award starting from 2024 to honor individuals and enterprises that have made significant contributions to the global internet sector and related areas.

The enterprise application portal is now officially open. We warmly invite enterprises from all industries to apply and be part of this moment of distinction. Please follow our guide to complete each step of the application process.

Could you please introduce the World Internet Conference Distinguished Contribution Award?

The WIC introduces the World Internet Conference Distinguished Contribution Award starting from 2024 to honor individuals and enterprises that have made significant contributions to the global internet sector and related areas. Through the Award, we seek to honor outstanding industry leaders, ignite a passion for ongoing progress in the internet and related fields, and extend the transformative power of the internet to more nations and people around the world.

What categories does the Award have for enterprises?

The Award has set 3 categories for enterprises: Social Contribution, Innovative Breakthrough, and Growth Potential. An enterprise can apply for up to two categories.

What are the selection criteria for each category?

To be eligible, enterprises need to support the mission of the WIC, and meet the basic criteria as well as at least one of the additional criteria in the selected category.

Social Contribution

a) Basic Criteria

The enterprise shall proactively assume corporate social responsibility. It sets relevant strategic goals and integrates them into daily operations, promoting global sustainable development.

b) Additional Criteria

• The enterprise proactively engages in international cooperation and promotes global industry development.  

• The enterprise is a leading business in the industry and makes significant contributions to economic growth, job creation, etc.  

• The enterprise makes significant contributions to social development through other means.

Innovative Breakthrough

a) Basic Criteria

The enterprise's core strategy centers on innovation, which is marked by substantial investments in innovation and transformations of ideas into products, services, projects or business models, resulting in strong market benefits.  

b) Additional Criteria

• The enterprise develops product or service innovations that effectively address industry challenges and meet evolving market needs.  

• The enterprise establishes innovative business models that transcend traditional frameworks, maximizing value creation.

• The enterprise achieves operational and management innovation, such as digitalization, talent management and process optimization, enhancing efficiency and overall management.

• The enterprise demonstrates innovative breakthroughs in other areas, or leverages internet-related solutions to achieve other innovative breakthroughs.

Growth Potential

a) Basic Criteria

The enterprise has been in existence for no more than 10 years. It exceeds industry growth averages and has built a competitive advantage within a niche market.

b) Additional Criteria

• The enterprise has demonstrated notable business growth in recent years.

• The enterprise exhibits strong growth potential, driven by core competitive advantages in technology, business models or operational management.  

• The enterprise shows exceptional potential for future growth through other means.

Are there any specific requirements for the characterization of the enterprise? 

Whether your enterprise engages in the internet industry or other fields that prioritize internet technologies and solutions, we warmly invite you to apply for this Award if your organization has made outstanding contributions to the internet sector and meets the selection criteria.

How can companies apply?

There are two options: application or recommendation. 

Member enterprises of the WIC are eligible to apply. 

Non-member enterprises need to be recommended by at least one WIC member to be eligible to apply.  

WIC members of all categories are eligible to recommend non-member enterprises.

Council members and senior members can recommend up to 10 enterprises.

Members and individual members can recommend up to 5 enterprises.

Cooperation members and non-profit institution members can recommend one enterprise.

Could you walk me through the application process? 

Enterprises need to submit the online application by 17:00 (Beijing Time), October 10, 2024. Please start online application at: https://viv.cn/su/wic_contribution

Please follow the following steps to finish online application.

1. Download and complete the application form. Each enterprise may apply for up to two categories.  

2. Fill in basic information online. 

3. Upload the completed application form in Word format and the scanned application form with signature or seal in PDF format.

4. Click "submit" to complete the application.  

Please note that enterprises applying in two categories should submit corresponding application forms separately on the system. Only one category should be submitted at a time. The steps are as follows: After submitting the application in the first category, return to the application system homepage and submit the application in the second category.

When is the application deadline?

The deadline for submission is 17:00 PM (Beijing Time), October 10, 2024. Please submit your application before the deadline.

Could you show me the timeline of the Award?

As follows:

Application (Now—October 10): Submission of application materials.  

Review (October 11—late October): A panel of renowned global experts and industry leaders in relevant fields will review the application materials and select the winners.

Award Ceremony Preparation (late October—before the Wuzhen Summit): The organizers will notify shortlisted enterprises to provide materials for the ceremony. The enterprise representatives will be notified to prepare for the ceremony accordingly.  

Award Ceremony (During the Wuzhen Summit): The ceremony will be held during the opening ceremony of the Wuzhen Summit.
