Premier Li Keqiang stated on Wednesday that the Chinese government welcomes more foreign specialists to work in China and that more work will be done to create a welcoming atmosphere for expatriates to stay in the nation.
During a meeting in Beijing before the Spring Festival holiday, which starts on Saturday, the premier sent holiday greetings to foreign specialists in China. He expressed his gratitude for their support of China’s drive for reform, opening up, and modernization.
Li expressed the wish that more recommendations from outside specialists regarding Chinese government operations will be made.
The country’s work permit, visa, and residence laws will be optimised for international talent, and policies governing things like tax, the purchase of foreign currency, medical insurance, and services will be improved.
Speaking of the Chinese economy’s performance over the last year, Li noted that despite challenges, the country was able to preserve employment, maintain price stability, and build a strong platform for long-term growth.
The National Bureau of Statistics estimates that in 2022, China’s economy reached a record high of 121.02 trillion yuan, up 3.0% from the previous year. The amount is more than the projected GDP growth of 2.2 percent for 2020.
According to Li, China created over 12 million jobs in towns and cities last year, and the country’s urban unemployment rate was 5.5%. Li also expressed his belief that China’s economy will pick up speed as the government improves its COVID response strategy.
