Guangzhou Customs has recently reported that they intercepted a foreign passenger carrying a large number of electronic devices when he was entering China through the Guangzhou Baiyun Airport without declaring them to authorities.

Customs officers said the passenger tried to enter China with 56 boxes containing used phones, used phone screens, and other electronic devices weighing a total of 1.3 tons. All the items were seized by authorities.

The passenger, with the help of some airport staff, was spotted pushing more than 10 large boxes through the non-declaration channel. ‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍

The officers used an X-ray machine to check the luggage contents and it was revealed that the boxes were stuffed with electronic devices.‍‍‍‍‍‍

After unpacking and inspection, it was found that the boxes contained used mobile phones and phone screens packaged in plastic bags.

Some of the phones were damaged with exposed circuitry, and some of the screens were already cracked.

"How did the 1.3 tons got shipped? The luggage fare cost must be high." Commented one user.‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍

"How did those get on the airplane? Was the captain not scared of putting this in the luggage compartment?" Questioned another.‍

The incident raised too many questions online with many asking how the passenger managed to get such a large amount of luggage checked in in the first place.‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍

Others questioned why customs officers in the departing country did not intercept or stopped the passenger from leaving the country with such a huge amount of luggage.‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍

China Customs also reposted the video on its official account, reminding inbound passengers to follow related rules and regulations when entering the country to avoid getting in trouble.‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍
