General Administration of Customs Announcement No. 100 of 2023(Regarding Preventing the Entry of Monkeypox Epidemic into China)Since May 2022, the monkeypox epidemic has been spreading widely in various regions globally. Up to now, more than 89,000 confirmed cases of monkeypox, including 152 deaths, have been reported in 113 countries (regions). Recently, the monkey pox epidemic has been on the rise in Europe, the Americas, and the Western Pacific region.In order to prevent the spread of the monkeypox epidemic into our country and safeguard the health and safety of inbound and outbound personnel, in accordance with the laws and regulations such as the “People’s Republic of China Frontier Health and Quarantine Law” and its implementing regulations, the following announcement is hereby issued:1.Individuals from countries (regions) affected by the monkeypox epidemic, who have had contact with monkeypox cases or are experiencing symptoms such as fever, chills, headache, lethargy, back pain, muscle pain, lymph node enlargement, widespread rash on the face and body, shall voluntarily declare to the customs upon entry. Customs health and quarantine personnel will undertake medical measures and conduct sampling tests in accordance with the prescribed procedures.2.Aircraft, vessels, containers, and goods from countries (regions) affected by the monkeypox epidemic that are contaminated or potentially contaminated shall undergo health treatment in accordance with the prescribed procedures.This announcement shall come into effect from the date of publication and remain valid for 6 months.Source : China Customs
