Police from the Wenfeng Police Station, branch of Nantong PSB (Jiangsu), have arrested a total of 9 individuals this month for consuming laughing gas (a non-technical term for nitrous oxide).Police said that they recently received a report from the public that a group of people had gathered in a rented room to consume laughing gas. When they entered the room involved they found a large number of laughing gas cans scattered on the floor and bed.They collected all evidence and arrested three women and two men who were in the room.The individuals, all in their 20s, told the police that they decided to buy and consume the laughing gas out of curiosity and thrill-seeking. They added that a friend introduced the product to them and they rented a room to smoke it. When asked how many cans they consumed, they said they consumed 840 cans overnight.
The police at the station told reporters that they also arrested two men and two women earlier this month, all of them minors and had gathered to smoke laughing gas in a rented house.There are several risks of using laughing gas as a recreational drug, including:-Lowering of blood pressure-Hypoxia, or the fatal loss of oxygen-B12 deficiency and anemia-Nerve damage due to the tingling sensationProlonged recreational use of nitrous oxide has several negative long-term effects, like:-Psychological dependence-Numbness in hands and feet-Possible birth defects (if used during pregnancy)Police Reminder: Consuming Laughing Gas constitutes illegal use of hazardous substances and is a violation of Article 30 of the Law of the People's Republic of China on Public Security Administration.
