Portugal Premium Experience


Portugal Premium Experience - Shanghai, organized by Associação Empresarial de Portugal, Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AEP), will take place on on May 26th at Hilton Shanghai Hongqiao. 


As part of the Next Challenge Asia project, this conference, with the promotion of Portuguese sectors from agri-food chains to home and construction materials to the Asian market, aims to give Chinese Business Representatives a better understanding of the Portuguese Market and its offers and solidify the commercial relations between China and Portugal.

Thai Festival


A festival featuring cuisine, fruits, spas, and arts and crafts from Thailand will be held in downtown Shanghai over the weekend, to further fuel the tourism recovery of the country.


The three-day event, Thai Festival in Shanghai 2023, at the Raffles City in Changning District, will present authentic Thai elements, according to the Shanghai Office of the Tourism Authority of Thailand.

SHSID Exhibition


More than 400 students and teachers from the Shanghai High School International Division are currently exhibiting their artwork, including fish printings, weaving work, sculptures, shadow puppets and Peking Opera figures at the Liu Haisu Art Museum.


The exhibition is a reflection of the art education performance of the division over the past three decades.

The Flying Dutchman


Famed Chinese soprano He Hui will perform Wagner's opera "Der fliegende Holländer" (The Flying Dutchman) for the first time, joining on stage with American baritone Todd Thomas in the German-language opera to be staged at the Shangyin Opera House.


This year marks the 210th anniversary of the composer's birth. A revival round of performances will be staged in Guangzhou and Hangzhou before ending in Shanghai on May 20 and 21.

The Tale of Peter Rabbit


"The Tale of Peter Rabbit," a world-famous children's book, has been adapted into a Chinese puppet version, which will debut in Shanghai later this month.


Jointly presented by Harmonia Theatrical and Rockefeller Productions, the puppet play was created and produced in the United States, and the final composition completed in Shanghai. All the puppets were created by Rockefeller Productions, an official partner of Disney Theatrical.

Memory & Metamorphosis


Art+ Shanghai Gallery is hosting Sabrina Jauffret's solo exhibition "Memory & Metamorphosis," which delves into the French artist's obsession with paper, and showcases pieces made through radical, frequently unforeseen transmutation.


The exhibition displays the versatility and possibility of paper as an artistic medium that has been cut, shaped, painted, sewn, and even embroidered. Jauffret treats paper as what it is, and shows us that it can be an art form in its own right, rather than simply a material to draw or write on.

Horizon of Khufu


People can now take a unique journey to ancient Egypt thanks the debut of virtual reality show Horizon of Khufu in the city over the weekend.


Horizon of Khufu, a 45-minute virtual and interactive show, invites visitors to take a virtual expedition to discover the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt.


It's on show in a 500-square-meter space in the HKRI Taikoo Hui, a shopping complex in downtown Nanjing Road W. The show hall is just upstairs through the Starbucks Reserve Roastery, the biggest Starbucks in Shanghai.

Painting the Essential

– Surrealism and the East


The exhibition "Painting the Essential – Surrealism and the East" is currently underway at the Centre Pompidou × the West Bund Museum.


Based on the Centre Pompidou collection and enriched with loans from the Shanghai Museum, the exhibition sheds new light on surrealism, particularly on its abstract tendency and its previously unexplored dialogue with the East.


The exhibition features a group of paintings created by abstract and surrealistic masters including Joan Miro (1893-1983), André Masson (1896-1987) and Zao Wou-ki (1921-2013), plus the ancient Chinese masterpieces of Dong Qichang (1555-1636) and Bada Shanren (1626-1705).

Shanghai Urban Digital Transformation Experience Hall


Visitors can experience Shanghai's achievements in digital transformation from 610 items covering almost all aspects of daily life at the Shanghai Urban Digital Transformation Experience Hall, which opened in April in Yangpu District.


The 7,100-square-meter exhibition space demonstrates how the utilization of technologies from artificial intelligence to 5G can improve quality of life and governance efficiency.
