Masterpieces from Madrid on display for the first time in China
The Museum of Art Pudong launched the heavyweight exhibition "The Greats of Six Centuries: Masterpieces from the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza" recently.
A total of 70 masterpieces by nearly 70 artists are on display for the first time in China.
The paintings, from the collection of Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza, spanning six centuries, present a spectacular view of Western art from the Renaissance to post-war European and American art, leading viewers to gain insights into how the lifestyles and social landscape of the Western world have evolved over the past 600 years.
The exhibition brings together the works of many great masters, including Raphael Sanzio da Urbino, Pieter Hendricksz de Hooch and Peter Paul Rubens.
Highlights of the exhibition include "Portrait of a Young Man," "The Stevedores in Arles" and "Venus and Cupid."
