An immersive showcase of Tang-era 'palace banquet'

The widely acclaimed dance program "Palace Banquet in Tang Dynasty" is performed for the opening of the 2023 Oriental Beauty Valley Art Festival on Tuesday.

An immersive exhibition showcasing the widely acclaimed dance program "Palace Banquet in Tang Dynasty" has opened to the public in suburban Fengxian District.

Located at the Nine Trees Future Art Center, this event serves as a grand introduction for the annual Oriental Beauty Valley Art Festival, scheduled to captivate audiences until the end of 2023.

Originating from the prestigious Zhengzhou Song & Dance Theater in central China's Henan Province, the classical dance program has garnered immense popularity on Chinese social media platforms since its debut in 2021.

Drawing inspiration from traditional Tang Dynasty (AD 618-907) dances, the performance portrays plump and endearing actresses who adorn themselves in exquisite attire, immersing spectators in an ancient painting scroll that vividly depicts the era's opulence and grandeur.

To elevate the artistic experience, the creators have seamlessly integrated cutting-edge technology, incorporating 3D and augmented reality (AR) elements.

Actresses in traditional hanfu, or traditional Han-style clothes, parade at the exhibition.

By blending virtual scenery with the tangible stage, the show achieves a mesmerizing fusion, further complemented by the graceful dance moves of the actresses and captivating demonstrations of national treasures.

During the opening ceremony of the art festival, held at the Fengxian art center, spectators had the opportunity to witness the enchanting performance firsthand.

The festival encompasses a rich tapestry of more than 20 art and cultural events, thoughtfully curated to engage and entertain the public.

Moreover, the exhibition at the art center offers visitors a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes creation of the dance program. Alongside the captivating performances, attendees can explore the backstage stories and gain a deeper understanding of the Tang Dynasty culture.

People enjoy the fun of water sports.
