单词回顾 | 他们都是如何用“say”和“see”造句的？

5月19日的单词是“say”, 英文中最简单最常见的单词之一。但它的这个用法对很多人来说可能还比较陌生，相当于“indicate/reflect”。

下面是5个句子点评：

1. The sentences made on the day -to -day word platform say a lot about one person such as character, hobbies and familiar subjects.

点评：句子的意识很好，但还是犯了之前多次说过的问题：翻译太想当然。“造句”不是“make a sentence”。如果查一查搭配字典（再介绍一次：http://www.freecollocation.com/）就会发现可以用这些动词：construct, form, formulate, generate, write. 可以这么写：

The sentences constructed/formed/formulated/written in the One Word One Day program say a lot about a person, such as character, hobbies and familiar subjects.

2. His pale, bony face coupled with his coarse, unruly hair says a lot about his poor health condition.

点评：很漂亮的描述句子。几个形容词都用得很好。

3. Some people are convinced that one's past career choices say a lot about their personal traits and experiences.

点评：Flawless. 

4. Many deliberately damaged sharing bicycles not only say about the oversight of company but also the immorality of some people.

点评：句子的意识很好，但有一处错误。如果指的是某一家共享单车公司，应该这么改： 

Many deliberately damaged sharing bicycles not only say about the oversight of Mobilke/Ofo/other but also the immorality of some people.

如果指的是多家共享单车公司，应该这么改： 

Many deliberately damaged sharing bicycles not only say about the oversight of the companies but also the immorality of some people.

5. The new function released by WeChat public platform says an original piece of writing is in need of protection.

点评：很好的意识。“say about”后面一般多跟名词，所以可以这么调：

The new function released by WeChat public platform says about the need to protect original pieces of writing.

5月20日的单词是“see”。在叙述事件时可以使用它的这个意思，非常地道。

下面是5个句子点评：

1. With the upcoming of 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, 2017 will see the greatest reshuffle of China's politics.

点评：很棒的句子。“upcoming”后面的“of”需要删掉。由于前面说了“China”，后面的“China”可以改成代词。修改如下：

With the upcoming 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, 2017 will see the greatest reshuffle of its politics (in years).

2. The last decade saw many technological advances, and the next few years will see more.

点评：句子写得很好，不过可以增加一些具体的科技进步，这样可以更好地帮助作者记牢这个用法。

3. The year 2008 in China has seen several historical events: snow disaster, the 29th Olympic Game and the earthquake in Sichuan.

点评：句子非常具体，赞！几处问题：时态应该用过去式；“in China”可以调到后面；奥运会的“game”应该用复数形式。修改如下：

The year 2008 saw several historical events in China: snow disaster, the 29th Olympic Games and the (unprecedentedly devastating) earthquake in Sichuan.

4. The 20th century saw the greatest invention in the human history: computers.

点评：很好的句子，可以直接用在口语和作文中。

5. Yesterday, 20th of May, saw a great deal of beautiful weddings, for five-two-zero is pronounced like I Love You in mandarin and many people take a fancy to this implication.

点评：很应景很地道的句子。一个启示是，造句子时可以假想在给老外做介绍，看看如何用简单的语言把事情说清楚。“a great deal of”后面接不可数名词，这里可以改为“a great number of”；“mandarin”作普通话讲首字母要大写。修改版：

Yesterday, 20th of May, saw a great number of beautiful weddings, for 520 is pronounced like "I love you" in Mandarin and many people take a fancy to this implication.
