Course Description

3D打印技术被认为是第四次工业革命的代表技术，在各行各业中得到越来越广泛的应用。陶瓷3D打印以陶土为原料，用增材制造的方式进行成型，不仅突破了传统陶瓷生产的工艺限制，也突破了传统生产工艺对陶瓷器物的造型限制。本课程将带大家认识全面了解陶瓷3D打印技术，了解3D打印原理，感受陶瓷材料，掌握设计规范，学会使用设计软件并独自操作3D打印机。共同完成创新、有趣、独特的陶瓷设计作品。 

3D printing technology is considered to be the technology of the fourth industrial revolution and has been more and more widely used in all future-living applications. Ceramic 3D printing takes ceramic clay as raw material and uses additive manufacturing method for forming, which not only breaks through the process limitation of traditional ceramic production, but also breaks through the limitation of traditional form and shapes on ceramic products. This course will bring you a comprehensive understanding of ceramic 3D printing technology, understand the principle of 3D printing, feel ceramic materials, mastering design specifications, learn how to use design software and operate 3D printer alone. Jointly to complete innovative, interesting, and unique ceramic design works.

课程目的

Course Objective

通过一系列课程讲座，了解陶瓷3D打印的原理与设计规范，认识陶瓷材料与陶瓷艺术，建立对陶瓷3D打印技术的初步认识。完成一款花器设计并制作实物，在设计过程中学习设计建模软件与3D打印软件的基本操作。从而初步掌握3D打印陶瓷产品的设计方法。

Through a series of lectures and tutorials, we can understand the principles and design specifications of ceramic 3D printing, understand ceramic materials and ceramic art, and establish a preliminary understanding of ceramic 3D printing technology. Complete a Vase design digitally and produce as a real objects, learn the basic operation of design modeling software and 3D printing software in the design process. So as to grasp the design method of 3D printing ceramic products.

课程将分练习、讲座、教学和最终成果的展示。参与者需在周四至周日上午9点至下午6点参加课程，练习课堂上所涉及的各种 技术和软件，并每日提交指定格式的阶段成果。本课程注重于具体的设计任务，每位参与者需要完成三维模型的设计和制作。

The course will be broken into the following cumulative exercises, lectures, and tutorials, culminating in a final exhibition of the materials produced. Participation from Thursday to Sunday, 9am to 6pm is mandatory. A specific format for daily delivery of your work will be specified. You are expected to produce every day that rehearses the arsenal of techniques and tools covered in class. The course will focus on specific assignments. Each participant will be required to 3D model.

本次暑期课程将由 Steven Ma 和 Xuberance团队以及受邀嘉宾指导。工作营将以中英文教学。工作营将主要使用Autodesk MAYA/Zbrush/和3d打印软件等进行。参与者需要自带笔记本电脑或工作站。工作营最终成果将在SA上海设计中心和广州VLAB打印展出。 

本次研讨会的目标是让参与者设计和制作陶瓷材料的3d打印产品。在设计阶段，学生将通过Autodesk Maya和ZBrush学习使用 网格建模技术制作复杂几何体。在制作阶段，学生将从三维数字模型中提取设计，利用三维打印软件制作打印文件，制作最终 的设计产品

VLab Summer Workshop will be instructed by Steven Ma & Xuberance Team as well as invited guests. Workshop will be held in both English and Chinese.  Workshop will run primarily using Autodesk MAYA/ Zbrush/ and 3d-Printing Software etc. Participants need to bring their own laptops or workstations. Program results will be exhibited at Studio Alpha Guangzhou – VLab. 

The target of this workshop is to let participants design and fabricate 3d-Printed products in ceramic materials. In design phase, the students will learn to make complex geometry using mesh modeling technique through Autodesk Maya and ZBrush. In fabrication phase, the students will take their design from 3D digital model to prepare printing files using 3D-Printing software to fabricate their final design product.
