Su Bingtian became the first male Chinese sprinter to win a global medal in an individual event as he took the silver in the men's 60 meters final at the World Indoor Championships here on Saturday.

A new study indicates that so-called ‘empty-nesters’- a term for parents whose adult children have left home – are likely to see their quality of life and wellbeing decline if their offspring come back to live with them.

Chinese scientist Mee-Mann Chang made the list of five laureates of the 2018 L'Oreal-UNESCO Women in Science Awards, the UN agency said on Thursday in a communiqué.

Chang, a Chinese professor at the Institute of Vertebrate Palaeontology and Palaeoanthropology and a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing, was nominated for "her pioneering work on fossil records leading to insights on how aquatic vertebrates adapted to life and land," UNESCO said in a statement.

The other four laureates are Heather Zar from South Africa, Caroline Dean of Britain, Amy Austin from Argentina and Canada's Janet Rossant. Each of the five laureates will receive a prize of 100,000 euros and be honored for her contribution in the fields of medicine, palaeontology, molecular biology, ecology and developmental biology.

China is now developing a reusable aircraft which would be able to take off from a standard airport, but would also be able to breach the atmosphere and take people into space, reports China Central Television.
