As outlined in a white paper entitled China's Arctic Policy, issued by the State Council Information Office on Friday, China hopes to work with all parties to build a "Polar Silk Road" through developing Arctic shipping routes.

The country would like to "jointly understand, protect, develop and participate in the governance of the Arctic, and advance Arctic-related cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative," according to the white paper.

The document stressed that China's activities in the Arctic have expanded into areas including the platforms of global governance, regional cooperation, and bilateral and multilateral affairs, and such disciplines as scientific research, ecological environment, climate change, economic development, and cultural exchanges.

The world’s first blue moon total lunar eclipse in more than 150 years was seen on Wednesday. The moon appeared larger, brighter and reddish-orange for some skygazers when a total lunar eclipse occured during a blue moon and a so-called supermoon.

The IKEA founder Ingvar Kamprad died at 91, the company said Sunday.

Kamprad, who was born in 1926, founded Ikea at the age of 17. He used some money his father had given him as a gift for performing well at school.

Sina Weibo suspends 'hot' lists

The Beijing office of the Cyberspace Administration on last Saturday summoned Weibo's boss for talk concerning the company's failure to censor illegal information posted by its users.

1月27日，北京市互联网信息办公室针对新浪微博对用户发布违法违规信息未尽到审查义务的严重问题，约谈新浪微博负责人。

"Sina Weibo has violated the country's laws and regulations, led online public opinions to wrong direction and left a very bad influence," it said.

北京市互联网信息办公室相关负责人指出，新浪微博违反国家有关互联网法律法规和管理要求，存在严重导向问题，对网上舆论生态造成恶劣影响。

The Weibo boss said operation of several sections would be suspended for a week for overhaul.
