At least 21 people were killed and 15 injured after a bus fell into a lake in the city of Anshun, Guizhou province, on Tuesday, local authorities said.

7月7日，贵州省安顺市一辆公交车坠湖。地方当局表示，事故造成至少21人死亡，15人受伤。

Among the passengers were four local students, People's Daily reported. One of the four students died and the other three are still receiving medical treatment.

据《人民日报》报道，乘客中有四名当地学生，其中一人死亡，其他三人仍在接受治疗。

The bus, which was reported to be "full of people", broke through a guardrail on the road and fell into the Hongshan Reservoir in the city's Xixiu district at around 12:30 pm.

据报道，这辆“坐满了人”的公交于7日下午12时30分左右冲破路边护栏，坠入西秀区虹山水库。

US notifies World Health Organization of its withdrawal

The U.S. has sent a letter officially notifying the United Nations that it is leaving the World Health Organization, starting the formal process of withdrawal that President Trump first threatened in April when he halted funding to WHO.

美国已致函联合国，宣布将正式退出世界卫生组织，开始启动退出程序。特朗普于4月宣布暂停向世卫组织缴纳会费时，初次扬言要退出世卫组织。

In an email to reporters, a U.N. spokesman confirmed that it received the notification: "On 6 July 2020, the United States of America notified the Secretary-General ... of its withdrawal from the World Health Organization, effective on 6 July 2021," wrote Stéphane Dujarric, a spokesman for U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres, adding that the U.N. is checking with WHO to see if all the conditions for withdrawal have been met.

联合国秘书长古特雷斯的发言人斯特凡•杜哈里克在一封写给记者的邮件中证实收到了该通知，通知中写道：“2020年7月6日，美国通知秘书长……声明退出世卫组织，将于2021年7月6日生效。” 他还表示，联合国正在与世卫组织核查美国是否已满足所有退出条件。

Two tests of the national college entrance examination, or gaokao, in Shexian county of East China's Anhui Province, which were scheduled for Tuesday morning and afternoon, were cancelled due to heavy rain.

The local department of education announced that it would rearrange make-up test for students, while the tests scheduled for Wednesday would still take place as planned.

Affected by the continuous downpour and the severe water logging in the county, only some 500 out of 2,000 students reached the examination sites on time, some of them by boat.

Geng Shuang starts new job as China's deputy envoy to UN

Ambassador Geng Shuang on Tuesday presented his credentials to the United Nations Secretariat and officially started his tenure as Deputy Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations.
