Map Details Incidents of Sexual Harassment at Beijing University

A Beijing university student has taken a stand against sexual harassment on his campus by creating a map detailing reported incidents, Ecns.cn reports.
Kang Chenwei is a Chinese major at Beijing Normal University (BNU). As part of a study he conducted on sexual harassment at BNU, he created a map in order to help raise awareness about the issue.
The map details the locations and times of 60 reported incidents that have taken place on campus since 2007. Kang says the issue of sexual harassment is commonly talked about on the university’s forum.
"I can't remember how many cases I've read in the past three years, but nobody has ever done a study on it," said Kang.
It took him roughly four months to complete the 13,000-word study, which is titled "Silent Iron Lion." As the name implies, the study also tackles the issue of why victims often stay silent after being assaulted.
"This report won't wipe out sexual harassment, far from it," he said. "But I hope it helps empower and strengthen security on campus."
