十五年培养出专业学生，桥洞下的坚持让音乐梦想开花 | Under the bridge

浙江海宁，是一座有许多外来务工者的城市。

Haining, Zhejiang Province, is a city with lots of migrant workers.

有些家长忙于工作，无暇照看孩子。他们就会把孩子送到蒙努大桥的桥洞下。

Some parents, who have to work and can spare no time for their children, send their kids to an underpass of the Mengnu Bridge.

在那里，一个叫荆文斌的老人，给孩子们创造了一个自得其乐的音乐世界。

There, an elderly man named Jing Wenbin created a beautiful musical world for the kids.

荆文斌是辽宁人，今年72岁。他热爱音乐，年轻时当过文艺兵，退伍后成了一名普通工人。2002年，他和老伴来到海宁谋生，辗转开了一家大排档。排挡关了之后，靠老伴给袜子贴标签来维持收入。

Jing was born in Liaoning Province. He is 72 years old now. He has always loved music and once served in the military as a musician before retiring to become a civilian worker. In 2002, he and his wife came to Haining and set up a food stall. After the stall closed, his wife earned a living pasting price tags on socks.

生活虽然清贫，但荆文斌从未放弃音乐梦想。有时候，附近外出工作的家长把孩子托给他照看，他就无偿拿起乐器，教起了孩子们音乐。

Despite a life of limited means, Jing never gave up his musical dreams. When the working parents ask him take care of their children, he picks up the musical instruments and teaches them for free.

“家长相信我，把孩子送过来，越送孩子越多，来得越多我越高兴。”

"People send their children to me with trust. The more kids that come, the happier I am."

但，因为音乐班吵闹，荆文斌没少遭受左邻右舍的责难。“这里撵我，我就换个地方。有个家长说，那个大桥底下没人，还不扰民，你领孩子去那儿吧。”

However, the noise of the music class brought a scolding from neighbors. "They chased me away and I used to change locations a lot. One of the parents told me that, nobody lived under the bridge. I could take the kids there without disturbing anyone."

于是，荆文斌的音乐班就在大桥下安顿下来。

That was how Jing and his students settled under the bridge. 

就这样过了十五年，连荆文斌自己都没想到，从他这里真的走出了走上专业道路的孩子。在第一批教的12个孩子里，有3个考上了艺术学校。

Fifteen years have passed. Jing never anticipated that some of his students would manage to become professional musicians. Three of his first 12 students were admitted into art institutions.

“我就觉得自己现在像个老师了，”荆文斌说，“我必须负起老师的责任，不能误人子弟。”

"I feel like a real teacher now," Jing said. "I need to accept the responsibility. I have to teach them correctly."

所以，荆文斌开始上老年大学，和文艺爱好者互相切磋，在电脑上看专业老师的教学视频……

Therefore, he attends a university for the elderly and learns from other music lovers. He also watches professionals play music online. 

社会各界也向荆文斌和他的学生们伸出援手，给他们提供临时上课场地和一些乐器。

Communities also help Jing and his students, providing temporary classrooms and musical instruments.

“这辈子我离不开音乐。年轻时，我的梦想就是站在舞台上吹奏。可是这个梦想没实现。” 对荆文斌来说，现在桥洞下的孩子们，就是他梦想的延续，也是他心中的希望。

"I can't live without music. When I was young, I dreamed of performing on stage. But it never came true," Jing said. Now, the students are his hope.  They can continue and fulfill the dream he never could.
