2019 marks the 20th anniversary of Macao Special Administrative Region's (Macao SAR) reunification with the motherland, a period in which the city's education system has blossomed and residents' livelihoods have improved while the economy has strengthened and is increasingly diversified.

回归祖国20年，澳门经济交上了一份亮丽成绩单：澳门本地生产总值（GDP）从回归之初的519亿元（澳门元，下同）增加到2018年的4447亿元，人均GDP则从12万元增至67万元。

Macao's economy has expanded significantly over the past 20 years: GDP in 2018 was seven times more than two decades earlier.
