建议注射消毒液杀死新冠病毒？特朗普：我只是讽刺性地反问一下...

当地时间4月24日，特朗普在白宫被记者问到有关前一日他的“注射消毒剂”言论时，他当即否认之前说法，表示那时只是想讽刺那些对他充满敌意的记者，“看看会怎么样”。

The U.S. president Trump has walked back on his Friday remarks of "injecting disinfectant" to kill the coronavirus, which has been ridiculed worldwide, by claiming that he was merely asking the reporters in the room a "very sarcastic question" about using the disinfectant.

"And is there a way we can do something like that by injection inside, or almost a cleaning? Because you see it gets inside the lungs and it does a tremendous number on the lungs, so it would be interesting to check that."

But I'm, like, a person that has a good you-know-what," he added.

The president's remarks have provoked a public outcry on social media and many media outlets have warned people not to follow the president's suggestions. 

On Twitter, several doctors and experts warned the public against injecting disinfectant or using UV light.

William Bryan, acting head of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Science and Technology Directorate, who outlined the findings at the news conference, said that the laboratory has not considered such a treatment, and heat and humidity alone will not kill the virus if people do not continue to maintain social distance.

Dr Deborah Birx, the White House coronavirus response coordinator, echoed that the advice will not be a treatment. "I mean, certainly, fever is a good thing. When you have a fever, it helps your body respond. But I've not seen heat or light," said Dr Birx.

Pulmonologist Dr Vin Gupta told NBC News: "This notion of injecting or ingesting any type of cleansing product into the body is irresponsible and it's dangerous."

The world's leading manufacturer of disinfectants and the makers of Lysol and Dettol, RB, on Friday also warned against consuming and injecting disinfectants after U.S. President Donald Trump proposed the use of UV light and disinfectants to treat COVID-19.

"As a global leader in health and hygiene products, we must be clear that under no circumstance should our disinfectant products be administered into the human body (through injection, ingestion, or any other route)," RB said in a press release.

对此，特朗普24日表示，他前一天的讲话只是表达讽刺，并不是要推荐美国人注射消毒液。

彭博社称，特朗普总统已经下定决心要在新冠疫情危机期间按他自己的方式表达，但是他在每日新闻发布会上经常出现的错误发言已经给白宫带来了一连串的公共卫生和政治上的麻烦。

纽约时报称，已经有顾问建议特朗普不要每天都出席发布会，或者不再回答提问。真的，能别聊就别聊了...

An ongoing discussion among U.S. President Trump's advisers "to either restrict the number of times Mr. Trump appears at the briefing, or to have him leave without taking questions" has assumed more urgency after he floated the idea of injecting people with disinfectants to knock out the coronavirus, reported the New York Times on Saturday quoting a person familiar with the discussions. 

"The president began joining the briefings consistently last month and typically engages in a back-and-forth with reporters that he enjoys, but has occasionally left without answering questions", the paper added.

根据约翰斯·霍普金斯大学数据显示，截至美东时间24日17时31分，美国新冠肺炎确诊病例达890524例，死亡51017例。

The U.S. leads the world in both COVID-19 infections and fatalities, with over 890,000 confirmed cases and over 51,000 deaths, according to the latest data compiled by the Johns Hopkins University (JHU).
