美国确诊病例超141万 特朗普：我们可能检测过度了…...

根据美国约翰斯·霍普金斯大学的数据，目前美国新冠肺炎确诊病例已超过141万，死亡病例超过8.5万。

 “逻辑鬼才”特朗普：“美国可能检测过度了”、“检测少病例就少”

5月14日，特朗普在参观宾夕法尼亚州一家医疗设备厂时称，美国新冠肺炎检测能力世界最强，但美国“可能检测过度了”。 

特朗普还表示，美国之所以现在确诊病例数世界最多，是因为美国比其他国家开展了更多的检测。

“我们现在确诊病例最多，为什么？因为我们做了更多的检测。当你检测的时候，你就会发现病例……如果我们不做检测，美国确诊病例可能很少。”

U.S. President Donald Trump visited a medical supply distribution facility in Pennsylvania Thursday, saying coronavirus testing might be "overrated" and is the reason behind the high number of cases in the United States. 

Though Trump "boasted" that U.S. has "the greatest testing in the world," he wondered whether such a volume was even necessary. "So we have the best testing in the world. It could be that testing is, frankly, overrated. Maybe it is overrated," Trump remarked during a speech to employees at the facility.  

The president also claimed that the U.S. has tested more people than other countries, suggesting soaring infection numbers were merely a reflection of the country's testing capacity.

"We have more cases than anybody in the world. But why? Because we do more testing. When you test, you have a case…If we didn't do any testing, we would have very few cases," said Trump. 

特朗普此话一出，立刻在社交平台引发热议。网友们纷纷开启吐槽模式，模仿特朗普的言论来回怼他漏洞百出的逻辑。

美国疫情“吹哨人”：政府抗疫无“总体协调计划”

5月14日，被誉为美国疫情“吹哨人”的前政府高级公共卫生官员里克·布莱特（Rick Bright）出席国会参议院关于疫情应对情况的听证会。

布莱特在国会作证时表示，特朗普政府初期忽视预警信号，在应对疫情时缺乏“总体协调计划”，导致了如今疫情肆虐的局面。

布莱特在听证会上也对目前的疫苗开发速度提出了质疑。他认为让疫苗在12到18个月内问世的想法是“激进的”。他担心如果进程过快，关键步骤恐被缩减，无法对疫苗安全性进行全面评估。

When testifying at a congressional hearing on Thursday, Rick Bright, the ousted director of Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) claimed that the Trump administration missed "early warning signals" to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus and criticized the administration for failing to implement a "standard, centralized, coordinated plan" to combat the virus. 

He also questioned the speed of vaccine development. "I still think 12 to 18 months is an aggressive schedule and I think it's going to take longer than that to do so," said Bright, adding "my concern is if we rush too quickly, and consider cutting out critical steps, we may not have a full assessment of the safety of that vaccine."

布莱特此前曾在美国生物医学高级研究与开发局担任局长一职。这一机构是美国卫生与公众服务部下属机构，负责管理和协调疫苗、药物等方面的研究。

然而4月22日，布莱特突然被解除职务。布莱特于5月6日发起诉讼，指控特朗普政府对其进行报复性免职，因为他不赞同使用特朗普大肆推广的“抗疫神药”氯喹和羟氯喹。

Bright filed a whistleblower complaint on May 6. He alleged that he was fired for opposing the use of chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine, drugs frequently touted by Trump as a potential coronavirus treatment.

针对布莱特的指控，特朗普发推文“发击”，称其为“心怀不满的员工”，不该继续为政府工作。

Trump dismissed Bright in a tweet Thursday as "a disgruntled employee, not liked or respected by people I spoke to and who, with his attitude, should no longer be working for our government!"

“我不认识所谓的吹哨人里克·布莱特，从来就没见过他，甚至没有听说过他。但在我看来，他就是一个心怀不满的员工，没法得到那些与我交谈过的人的青睐或尊重。凭他这样的态度，就不该再为我们政府工作！”

美国疾控中心发布部分企业重开指南

美国疾控中心于5月14日发布了商业场所及工作场所重新开放的指南。该指南概述了上述场所重新开业应遵循的一系列步骤，以确保员工和顾客的安全，包括勤洗手、保持社交距离以及如何判断疑似病例症状等。

Guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advising states on how to reopen businesses and workplaces was posted by the agency on Thursday.

The guidance outlines a series of steps that should be taken to keep employees and customers safe, including encouraging hand-washing, social distancing and how to check for symptoms of potential COVID-19 cases. 

疾控中心此前也曾拟定了一版指南，但并未被白宫方面采用。白宫认为指南过于具体，无法适用于疫情程度不同的州。一位白宫发言人也表示，未采纳这一指南也是因为它和特朗普“各州自行决定重启经济”的策略相左。

An earlier version of the guidance was held back by the White House for being too comprehensive, and not suited for states with different levels of outbreak. 

A White House spokesperson also said the administration requested changes because the version didn't conform to Trump's strategy of putting states in charge of reopening decisions, according to a Politico report.
