I Deleted A Lot of WeChat Friends Because…

Recently, in the "Social Media Operation" course offered by the Journalism and Communication Department at a University in Henan province, a teacher asked students to add new WeChat friends. Students were asked to add 1001 friends to pass and 1667 to get their full score.

Quite a few students called it a joke while many netizens expressed their support: “this is a great assignment with many challenges”. 

On the other hand, some netizens criticized this practice saying it’s a “waste of time.” 

The number of “friends” or people added on WeChat doesn’t mean you’re capable of communication. 

Often times, a brief “nǐhǎo” or “hey” are exchanged and the “friendship” continues with likes on moments.

Being friended on social media is not the same thing as having friends, right?

There is a famous host in China named Wang Han, he once said on TV: "When I had more than 100 people on my WeChat, it was scary and I decided to get rid of everything that didn't make sense." 

He even deleted famous celebrities like Fan Bingbing.

Stars have their own attitude towards their circle of friends.

Some people regard social media as a vanity fair, while some like Wang Han, regard social media as a nuisance and prefer to keep a low profile.

Reduce the number of ineffective social contacts.

Clean up the circle of friends.

Life is short, don’t waste precious time and energy on a social “friend” circle.

Enrich your heart with real friends, they are worth it!
