Ah, Spring Festival. Time to unpack the decorations and hunt down those lucky foods. But if you're planning to travel you might want to prepare yourself. This year, 7 million Chinese travellers are expected to go abroad, according to Caixin.
Ctrip crunched some numbers of their own to add to the travel predictions. Their figures show people from over 100 cities within China will travel to nearly 100 countries all over the world. A few of the more popular destinations include Thailand, Vietnam, the US and Australia, to name just a few. During CNY, the site is partnering with a staggering 30,000 travel companies to offer more than a million different travel packages for both international and domestic travel.
A mind-boggling 400 million people are expected to travel domestically as well, whether returning to their hometowns or just travelling around the country on holiday. A few of the most popular domestic travel destinations this year include Sanya, Beijing, Guangzhou and Chongqing, cites Ctrip.
In other words, book your tickets asap, and get ready for rising travel prices and queues. Lots and lots of queues.
