当地时间18日英国首相特蕾莎•梅一反常态滴搞了回突袭，宣布将于今年6月8日提前举行大选，19日下午，英国议会投票以522:13的压倒性票数敲定提前大选。

As expected, May received lawmakers’ approval for a June 8 election, three years ahead of schedule. Lawmakers voted overwhelmingly — 522 to 13 — in favor of a motion that paves the way for an election that could expand the Conservative Party’s hold on Parliament and government affairs.

19日举行的下议院投票中，650议席中有522席支持提前大选的议案，13票反对，让英国首相特雷莎·梅轻松获胜。

After debating the motion put forward by May in Parliament, 522 of the 650 sitting MPs voted in favor of the June 8 election, well and truly passing the threshold of two-thirds needed to approve the plan. Thirteen voted against the motion.

本来呢，英国下届大选应该在2020年举行，在4月18日之前，梅姨也一直表态说不会提前启动大选。根据英国法律，首相不能直接启动提前大选，这个决定需要获得英国议会下院三分之二多数票通过（所以19号不是投票通过了咩~）。英国舆论称这一决定为“意外”。

Under existing law, an election was not due until May 2020, and until April 18 May has insisted she will not call an early election. The move will require a vote with a two-thirds majority of MPs supporting the measure.

The previous election was in 2015, so another was not due until 2020.英国大选五年一次，上届英国大选是在2015年，当时由戴维•卡梅伦领导的保守党赢得选举，所以下次大选应该是2020年。但在去年6月英国公投决定退出欧盟后，卡梅伦宣布辞去首相职务。这以后，梅姨接任首相一职，后面的事情泥萌应该就知道啦~

不过，提前大选，可不是为了直接选出个英国首相来。英国下议院议员进行选举，若一党拥有绝对多数的议员，那么该党党魁将成为首相。

那么，梅姨为啥突然要提前大选了？

此前梅姨曾多次强调不会提前大选，远的咱就不提了，近边儿的例子就有一个~

3月20日（差不多一个月前），虽然民调数据显示有利于保守党，梅姨的发言人还跟媒体再三强调不会提前大选呢，现在却……

As recently as March 20, a spokesperson for May told a Westminster media briefing that there was “no change in our position on an early general election,” adding “there isn’t going to be one... It is not going to happen,” the U.K.’s Press Association reported.

Despite polls giving the Conservative Party a double-digit lead over Labour at the time, which would have put May in an extremely strong position to call an election, the spokesperson said: “We have been clear that there isn’t going to be an early general election and the Prime Minister is getting on with delivering the will of the British people.”

怪不得不少网友表示，女人果然都是善变的。

BBC报道称，梅姨表示，英国需要稳定性、确定性以及强大领导力。

She said Britain needed certainty, stability and strong leadership following the EU referendum.

梅姨做这个决定也很无奈，因为“国家团结但威斯敏斯特并不团结。”

Explaining the decision, Mrs May said: "The country is coming together but Westminster is not."

据《纽约时报》报道，此举旨在利用民众的支持占据更多议会席位，从而加强她在脱欧协商中的政治支持。

Mrs. May’s proposal for a snap election on June 8 broke her oft-repeated vow not to call an early vote and was aimed at exploiting her popularity to gain more parliamentary seats. This would strengthen her political backing in the negotiations for Britain’s departure, known as Brexit.

梅姨19日表示，提前大选可以避免退欧谈判的关键收尾时刻与国内大选撞期。

也就是说，6月份提前大选意味着，梅姨2022年之前都不用再次为大选操心啦，可以安心地进行脱欧谈判了。

当然，这一切的前提都得是梅姨领导的保守党赢了大选才行，毕竟这才上台没多久，没把握赢的话这不是自己折腾自己吗？就目前的形势来看，梅姨还是有绝对的信心的。根据BBC的调查，保守党现在足足领先了工党18个百分点，双方实力悬殊。
